I went to download the myLot toolbar and it came up with a reported trojan.
Win32:Spyware-gen.[Trj]Is this for real?
I can't imagine that myLot would put any spyware in the toolbar. It says that they don't.
Maybe my anti virus settings are too high - I did have a warning a few weeks back about a different spyware but now it has got me wondering whether it is accurate or not?Anyone have any ideas about this or what to do?

hi GBerlin. I don't usually use toolbars, for the reasons stated. I did think I might make an exception to help me keep up with my myLot friends discussions. myLot states that it doesn't use spyware or adware so I was surprised when it popped up with this warning.

You should report it to my lot right away, viruses spread so fast. They may not know they have one.

I removed the myLot toolbar from my pc because I was getting too many pop-ups and it was definitely the cause because they stopped as soon as I removed it. I don't like using any toolbars anyway - I've tried a few different ones and had problems with them all.

I can't imagine that Mylot would purposely put spyware on their toolbar, but spyware attaches itself to certain programmes which they think will be well-used, and then spread. This has happened to me in Yahoo, so when my trojan warning comes up, I put the offending programme in the vault, which holds it there, so it can't spread. You should still be able to upload your Mylot toolbar, and safely.
Good luck and have a great day!

feliniti these things attach them to where ever there is vulnerability, and my guess is MyLot is becoming more and more popular and therefore MyLot is becoming a nice fat target. MyLot IT Guru's will have to get some security patches, you should report it to them.

I would believe it. I have Norton and that sort of thing comes up on my computer all the time..Norton zaps it. I would write to them, but they will probably deny it.

This is interesting. I would have never thought anything like this could happen, but I do not have the Toolbar for myLot downloaded here, nor have I considered it. But like someone said already it could be maybe somehow someone has attatched something like this to it which is possible considering how many people from all over the world use this site. Thanks for sharing the information and Warning.

i'm not very good with this sort of thing. I have a few programmes for spyware, viruses, adware etc. I alwasy go by what they say... I don't know any better. As a general rule I have been told not to download toolbars as viruses and stuff attach themselves to them without the original party knowing at times.

I had the same problem when I downloaded mylot toolbar. Since you reported it 7 months ago were you able to download it now? Neither did I receive a response when I contacted mylot.
