4-GET about your "weaknesses"! Focus ONLY on your STRENGTHS!!!!!

In Western culture, this is obviously an UNPOPULAR stance! American society is 4-ever focusing on self "improvement", and we have a "laundry" list of self-help "gurus" who think they have the "magic formula" 4 u "improving" your life, and a BIG part of the equation is 2 "work" on your "weaknesses", 2 "overcome" them. There are TONS of books on bookstore shelves, that contain some variation of "The 7 steps 2_____ (fill in the blank)". And while this "focus" may SEEM beneficial at 1st, upon CLOSER "inspection", I think it does more HARM than good! Most self help books "claim" that they want u 2 ACCEPT yourself AS U ARE! Yet, how can u actually DO that, when u're constantly being told that u have "weaknesses" that need "improving"??? In some Eastern cultures, the focus is DIFFERENT! THEY c the FUTILITY in trying 2 "work" on weaknesses! When u focus on trying 2 "improve" in things that u naturally are NOT good at, not only do u NOT "improve", but u end up feeling even WORSE about yourself, 4 "failing" 2 "improve"! So, your self-esteem only DROPS, instead of RISING! Also, focusing on "weaknesses" takes "strength" AWAY from your STRENGTHS, because u're dedicating so much vital energy 2 what u DON'T do well, instead of nurturing the "seeds" of the things that u DO do well! So, I say ONLY focus on what u DO do well, and don't worry about your "weaknesses"! With ALL of your energy being directed 2-wards your strengths ONLY, it will make those "so-called" weaknesses IRRELEVANT! I'm with the EASTERN philosophy here! We've ALL been created 4 a specific purpose, and we ALL have "strengths" and "weaknesses", just DIFFERENT 1's 4 every person! If u CANNOT do something well, it may be because u're not MEANT 2 do it well! NO ONE has it "ALL"! NONE of us is "perfect"! We all HAVE something, and we're all MISSING something! And, it's NOT "negative" 2 acknowledge this. It just IS! We're ALL 1, in the big scheme of things! And, 2-GETHER, COLLECTIVELY, we all COMPLETE the "puzzle" of life! But, SEPARATELY, we're each just a "piece" of the Grand Design! So, I say that there's NO NEED 2 "work" on yourself, because u were created EXACTLY the way u're SUPPOSED 2 be! Sure, u can ACKNOWLEDGE, and be AWARE of what u're NOT good at! But, there's no need 2 FOCUS on it, and "beat yourself up" 4 NOT being good at certain things, because 4 every "weakness" u have, it's also OFFSET by a STRENGTH in ANOTHER area! We're NOT MEANT 2 "overcome" our weaknesses, and be GOOD at EVERYTHING! Then, we'd be PERFECT, and NOBODY is! We're given "weaknesses" on PURPOSE, so that we don't get 2 "full of ourselves", and so that we still NEED others! At the end of the day, we ALL NEED each other! So, what do U think? Do u agree with the Western philosophy of "improving" your "weaknesses", or are u leaning more 2-wards some Eastern philosophies on this? Do u believe that u can FULLY ACCEPT yourself, AS IS, if u're constantly thinking about what u need 2 "work on", or CHANGE about yourself? Do u actually think that u CAN "improve" on a "weakness", and turn it INTO a "strength"? Please, give me your detailed thoughts.

Well, I think you are thinking a bit wrong, dude. Why improving your strenghtness and allowing others to see your weaknesses? I always was a bad soccer player. I improved it. Nowadays, I'm not one of the best. But not one of the worst. And, when you have achieved a reasonable limit for your weaknesses... Then you start improving your strenghtness!

Well, u have a right 2 your opinion, but I think U are thinking "wrong"...DUDE! Why would u start on your strengths AFTER struggling with a weakness? And, what REAL good has it done 4 u? U YOURSELF say u're still NOT the best soccer player, which is EXACTLY my point! If u were NATURALLY good at it ALREADY, then all of that work u put into it WOULD make u 1 of the BEST! Why would u wanna STRUGGLE with a weakness, ONLY 2 be MEDIOCRE at "best"? Wouldn't your time me more WISELY spent focusing on what u're ALREADY good at, and making THAT even BETTER and STRONGER?
