Well I work at k-mart and well most people know they merged with Sears. Well now that sears plays a huge part with the store we employes get so frusterated. We are tired of asking if people would like to use or apply for sears cards, it's rediculus we have to ask everyone even if we asked them once before.
Personally when i go shopping at k-mart and other stores I do not like to be asked tons of questions while being checked out.
Just wanting oppinions on this matter.

I totally agree. I'm new to the USA and I have been asked to purchase store cards at every department store I have been too and its annoying. Even when I say "no thank you", they still insist I do. Because I don't have much of a credit rating being new and all, when I do say yes, and its declined, it affects my rating and I didn't know that so I stopped agreeing to get one and now refuse them left right and center.

I understand why they make you ask. THey make their most money off peoples interest payments. I would get tired of having to ask too. I dont mind being asked It doesnt annoy me or anything.

I've worked in a few department stores, and we always had to ask every customer "would you like to save __ percent today by applying for a ___ card?" One of the stores we would get in trouble and wouldn't get promoted if we didn't get an application for every 10 hours we are working-it was crazy! We even had secret shoppers listen to see if we asked, if we didn't-more trouble! I think it's being too pushy, there are usually store credit card signs everywhere, pamphlets, and applications-if someone really wants one, they'll seek it!

When I get asked about an application, I just politely say no thanks. That's usually the end of it, I don't usually get a sales person pushing it. They usually accept my no thanks and that's the end of it.
One thing that does bug me is when a cashier asks for my phone number. Our Toys R Us does this. I don't like to give my personal information out with other people standing right next to me in line. I always....no, I don't want to give that info. I've also noticed alot of stores near me ask for your zip code.

I know the feeling. I hate having people after me do I want to fill this out, or buy this for an extra $5.00, etc. Why can't it just be left at the simple stuff such as "Good morning/afternoon/evening", "how are you today?" and "Did you find everything ok?". These are probably the only questions I don't mind while trying to check out. It must be because I feel that they are close to a "normal" conversation.
