What do you understand corruptation and bribery?

Recently ,the clerk of qingdao was dismissed from his post. The reason is corruptation and bribery.When I hear from this idea ,I am very astoundment. Before ,I am very admired him .I think that he is a good leader.He has done many good things for common people. I can't understand why he can become corruptation. In my mind ,one who can corruptation and bribery must be a bad person. He/she has no conscience and sympathy. Now I know that I am wrong. Corruptation and bribery can inflect one person. Maybe the good from corruptation and bribery allure them .Corruptation and bribery are very devilishness . What do you understand corruptation and bribery?
