In a previous discussion I gave some advice on how to improve your ranking with Google using keywords in your content. This discussion is about reciprocal linking. I read this in the same book by David Crowder "Building a website for dummies". Reciprocal linking is the web's equivalent of "You scratch my back, and I will scratch yours". The way it works is this: you put in a link to your page to another website, and the other website returns the favor by putting in a link to yours. Even directly competing sites can benefit from linking to one another.
Good luck with your websites!

Hi yanstill. I am new to blogging to. I just wrote an answer to your question but my answer couldn't go through. I think mylot does not allow writing html links code here... If you add me to your list of friends I can send you an email on how to do that. Once you add someone's link you can ask them to do the same for you. Some will do it some not. You can add only the ones that reciprocate. It's up to you. Good luck yanstill.

I made a mistake on the title of my discussion here. It is about how to use reciprocal linking to improve your page rank but the title is about working your keywords... I couldn't correct the title after I submitted the discussion and I wish there was a way to do that. Well I am sure that I'm not the only one who makes this kind of mistakes lol

i think thats a good idea but then if you link to 100's of other sites on your blog or site then it can become overcrowded i think its better to use bookmarking and networking programs like technorati, bloglines, blogarama, delicious, diggit and others that way you can keep a track of the sites in your favorites at theose programs and also get more exposure as others in the program will link to your sites aswell so you start building a network of other bloggers who are interested in your blog. if you see on my site i have a delicious roll on the right hand side and it shows 15 sites ive added, then i have technorati buttons and also a bloglines roll which shows some sites ive added at bloglines. http://mailboxmoney.blogspot.com and http://urbancitycrew.blogspot.com if you have a blog please leave the link and i can add it to one of these

I have been exchanging links to bloggers on mylot all this time. If you would like to see my blog, it's on my profile. If you would like to link, let me know your blog URL I'll come check it out then I'll let you know.
I don't mind linking to moneymaking blogs, but I would prefer that this is not the only thing the blog is all about. There must be a lot of things you can share in a blog aside from making money. Interesting blogs will invite more people to read and link with you. Good luck !

I like your 'you scratch my back, and I will scratch yours' on reciprocal links. You explain it in very practical way. Yes, inbound links help to get indexed and rank a site well if the link text contains the targeted keywords. One way links are more highly valued by the search engine than the reciprocal links because of trading aspects, but usually reciprocal links work just fine. I can say only if I have a quality content rich site, I can hope some reciprocal links on a personal level and visitors. Then people automatically will be interested to link me in one way.
Thanks for great information you offer us.
