the VANISHING menstrual cycle - for women ONLY!

I'm curious…
I'm a 24 year old mother of two kids, a 4 year old daughter about to turn 5 and then I have a 16 month old son.
I have always had a normal menstrual cycle before I had my first child and even after the fact.
My menstrual cycle became irregular after I had my second miscarriage. I have had a total of two miscarriages, they were back to back.
Anyway, after all that. My menstrual cycle honestly just vanished. I mean it never came back.
I'm a big girl and I have heard that sometimes people that are overweight can have irregular menstrual cycles, but I have always been big and never have had a problem before.
Well, one day and remember this is like 2 years of NOT having a menstrual cycle...
Yeah I know, lucky me, huh?
Anyway, I never thought anything of it, so I never seen a doctor. Plus I really didn't care at the time about not having a menstrual cycle. I wasn't trying to have a baby since the two miscarriages. SO I didn't think it was a big deal.
Anyway, back to the story, two years of not having a menstrual cycle, I started feeling like I was pregnant. I was puking and all that. But still in the back of my head I didn't think I could be pregnant because I hadn't had a menstrual cycle in so long.
SO I blew it off once again. Stupid me.
All signs showed I was pregnant, but for some reason I was going through some phase. I even at one time thought I was going through menopause.
Anyway, I ended up being pregnant with my son.
It was a shocker. Sometimes I feel like he is a magical baby. He kind of just surprised us.
When I gave birth to him, I was told I would get my menstrual cycle back to normal and that it wasn't a big deal.
Well, I did get it back, but then when my son was about 4 months old, my menstrual cycle kind of vanished again.
So, my question is, is there anyone out there, a female of course, that just had their menstrual cycle vanish on them and then ended up pregnant out of the blue?
Or do you have a similar story about the vanishing menstrual cycle?
I would like some feedback on this.
And no, I havn't seen a doctor about it. I think my last appointment was when I had my staples removed from my c-section.
I just never get sick and I hate going to the doctors. I seriously don't feel the need to see a doctor. I'm just curious if anyone else has heard of a case like this.
I also, in some odd way, miss my menstrual cycle.
But, then again, I also love not having it… LOL!

I was in a similar situation with my second daughter. My periods had always been irregular and when I missed a few I didn't think anything of it. Lo and behold, it turned out I was pregnant!
After she was born, they became irregular again and rather than going to a doctor to try and regulate them, I let it go. Bam! Pregnant again.
I'm now two and a half months post-partum and have had one menstrual cycle during that time. My doc put me on the Pill to try and get some control over them, so we'll see what happens.
What you're describing sounds like more than just irregular menstruation. Although I don't know what all of your symptoms are, it seems that you may have a condition called amenorrhea. One of the symptoms is no menstrual cycle for 3-6 months. Here is a link to a website that I found about it:

I hope you get some answers there! Good luck!

I'm glad that site was able to help you out a little. I still think it would be worth a trip to the doctor's office to find out for sure though.

I would want to be in your shoes!
I had the exact opposite of your problem!
After my first delivery, I would have it for like 20 days in a month and it would stop for a couple of days (maximum a week) and would start all over again. I had tried all kinds of medicines (especially since we wanted a second child and well I had to stop bleeding for that to happen). One good thing that came out of it is that I lost a lot of my pregnancy weight pretty soon.
The last doctor I went to gave me hormones which got it back on track and I concieved soon after. Now, almost a year after my second delivery, I think it's started very heavy again. I dread going to the doctor again!

I have always had problems with my cycles. I have Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome and one of the first things associated with it is being overweight. Have you noticed that you're getting hairier? Everywhere - face, tummy, back - everywhere? If the answer is yes, then you might have PCOS. It's very well documented, but is strongly associated with infertility. There are some threads on MyLot about it too.
Good luck!

From what you have described it sounds like your progestron was out of balance. Which can cause miscarriages & loss of periods. Many things can cause this, some serious and some not so serious. I think it'd be best to have a blood work-up and a physical, determine the cause and then decide if you should treat it.

We women are run on hormones and it sounds like yours is out of whack. Also nursing if that is what you did does not always prevent pregnancies. In any case it might be prudent for you to seek medical advice. Better safe than sorry now that you have little ones to take care of. I wish you much luck in improving your health and living a long life.
