Let's post interesting things that are useful in life. I'll start by posting something I found out in desperation. I really, really hate cockroaches, they are icky and disgusting. I don't even want to swat them because it'll start smelling bad. So usually I pour alcohol on them and watch them squirm for a few minutes until they die. One night, there was a cockroach in my room and I was out of alcohol. Desperate, because it was sort of flying around, I went to the kitchen. I found two liquids in the cupboard: cooking oil, and ketchup. Ketchup was automatically disregarded. So I brought the cooking oil and poured a bit of it over the cockroach. To my surprise, it died instantly. Now I kill cockroaches using cooking oil or baby oil. It's much more effective than Raid and Baygon combined.

I am so glad not only that I was not eating when reading this discussion but that we do not have cockroaches in my house. We have spiders but I hate them. I have to call my husband to get rid of them. If you put a glass over one and them slide a thin piece of card under the glass you can transfer them outside safely without having to harm them.

Wow, that's a pretty gentle way to get rid of a pest in your house. I'd like to try that one time but we usually get spiders (huge ones too) on the ceiling...and some of them like to jump so it's kind of scary.

Oh how awful. I had to check my ceiling just reading your post to see if we had any there. It made me frightened just thinking about them. Yuck!

Do you know how to kill lizards without touching them? I hate lizards.
