I do eat pork. I eat it once in a while. You must be a Muslim, if I am not mistaken. Muslims are not allowed to eat pork. I think Muslims call it "halal". Don't be offended if I am wrong. I am not really sure about it. Pork tastes good but not as good as beef. Pork is high in cholesterol so I guess you shouldn't eat that much.

Ooops... Sorry. I often switch haram and halal. I knew some Muslim people and I once watch a Muslim program about the foods you eat and how you prepare them. After watching the show, I was amused at Muslim people. You value your food that much and you always keep in mind to serve clean and healthy food.

I love pork, it's so tasty in a large variety of recipes! I'm in Australia and we sell a range of pork called Extra Trim Pork which are pork steaks or fillets that have had all the fat removed. We're actually encouraged to eat it because it's healthy!
It's so hard to describe the flavour of it though...it doesn't taste like any other kind of meat...or food for that matter.

I don't eat pork because I'm a vegetarian - however, when I did still eat meat, I cut pork out of my diet first. It's gross. Something about it just smells so gross. The only pork I really liked was bacon - and you could always eat turkey bacon. I really don't think you are missing out. Steak is so much better.

pork is a part of my daily diet. i can't eat my veggies without pork. we have a vey delicious delicacy here in the philippines called Lechon which is a roast pig, very yummy but should be eaten in moderation since it is indeed high in cholesterol. anything that is too much is not good anyway.
i've just had my lunch, fish and veggies and i'm not at all happy and satisfied.

Although I am not either Muslim or Jewish, but Christian I probably don't know much about this. But I seem to recall very long list of *forbidden* foods listed in one of the first Old Testament books in the Bible.
At the time these books were written, many of the reasons for foods being forbidden was literally because the ways in which the animals were raised, and the ways in which the resultant meat was stored and prepared, were very unhealthy. Also there are dietary rules against serving certain foods together, for much the same reasons.
For Jewish persons, this is the basis for *kosher*, which regulates the ways in which animals are slaughtered and prepared, among other things.
Again, because I am speaking of religious practices I do not follow and because I am not *up* on my Old Testament, please feel free to correct me. It's been a long time since the Bible was a text book for me. My memory isn't good!

I love pork, it is a principal part of my cuban culture, so it is nearly a religious encommendation to eat it.
I have heard cuabn muslims can also eat it. All they have to do is call the name of Allah (Bismillah) while they eat it to get forgiveness from Him.

I know it usually doesn't work like that. Thanks for clarifyng that. But in Cuba everything works of it own, that is why cuban muslims have been rejected by some international muslims communities, as cuban jewishs have also benn rejected sometimes by their international communities, and the Chucrch don't like cuban christians because of their reltions with african rituals...

sorry, but you are wrong..
muslim can't eat pork..
It's forbidden in Islam.
HARAM to eat pork, means definitely can't/mustn't eat pork!
Bismillah doesn't mean ask forgiveness to ALLAH.
Saying Bismillah isn't the way to get forgiveness from ALLAH.
Saying Bismillah if the first thing we do before we start doing something..

I enjoy pork. I do not eat it all the time. When I do eat it, I always try to get a lean cut of it. I actually had pork for dinner last night. I made boneless bbq pork ribs on the grill. It was very good. I usually only eat pork a few times a month. I don't know how to explain the taste of it.
I know that some people have said you should just break the "rules" of your religion and eat it. I do not agree with them. If you are happy not eating it, then why change that. =) As you said, you feel the reasons for pork being forbidden are reasonable, then for you it's not a big deal to go without pork. You just seem to be curious to know what it is like since you are unable to have it.
What are some of your favorite foods?

You should never compromise your religion if you strongly believe in it and you are happy. You say you have no interest in it so asking people what they think about it is a neat way of seeing how others view pork. I think you've made a great decision. I also enjoy beef and seafood. I also really like chicken.

I'm posting this for the sake of the discussion, and correct me if I am wrong, but...
It is my understanding that one of the reasons pork is haram is because, due to the natural anatomy of the pig, it has no neck to be slaughtered by. The logical response is that God would have provided a neck for the pig if he was to be slaughtered. Another reason is simply Divine Command.
I have a question for you, dita13, and I am hoping you have the answer. I believe these contexts are found within the Sharia? Am I right? I am not a muslim, so I am not certain.
Btw, pork is just plain gross. Even today, it is a dangerous meat to eat and many people do not understand that. If it is not cooked throuroughly, your chances of becoming ill as a result are exponentially higher than consuming undercooked meat of other animals... with the exception of freshwater fish. The reason for this are a species of flatworm called tapeworms. Often, these tapeworms will form cysts in your muscle fibers and cause incredible pain for the remainder of your natural life. On occasion, they end up in your brain, which often kills you. If you ever needed more than just a religious reason not to eat pork, there you go.

well, I think in here, the name isn't Sharia..
cause I've never heard that before..
many books in my country that explain things about Islam that we don't understand in Quran..
I heard your opinion about why we can't eat pork is from the person who were good at Islam, you know what I mean...

The Sharia is a guidebook that many muslims study from. Because the Quran does not have all of the answers people seek, the Sharia is a collection of stories and examples that people can apply to daily life. Food laws often come from this text, as well as many moral examples. The book, however, is not all-encompassing... so the consensus of the community often suffices.

Pork is actaully a white meat and it is good for you. Some of it is high in fat-like bacon- but overall it is good for you. We eat a lot of pork in our house and I can't imagine life without it. MY daughter loves pork chops, ham and bacon! I am thrilled with pork chops and bacon. I will eat ham but not as often.
What is your religion that you can't eat pork? Why is it that you can't eat it? Do you eat a lot of beef as that isn't really good for your health either?

my religion is Islam.
I forgot the reason, but it is so reasonable..
If you like to eat pork, which means that you mostly eat pork in your life, wouldn't that be danger for your health?
I have eaten beef..
But no a lot of, I will consider to my health to not eat beef too much.
