Has anyone joined the 50000 word-or-more novel contest? I've been part of it for the last 3 years, and it's the greatest fun! Check out http://www.nanowrimo.org for details
Anyway, for those who haven't tried it, Nanowrimo is a worldwide contest that happens every November. Everyone's goal is to write a novel of 50,000words or more starting November 1, and finish the novel by month's end. Great fun, I tell you; and a great way to exercise those brain cells (not to mention those fingers!)

I am taking part in it THIS year, (well, the main reason that I didn't take part last year, is that I didn't know about it), but I feel like a total madman even thinking that I will be able to do this, but, there again, you do not know what you can do, unless you try. Good luck to everyone is participating THIS year.

I am. I'm not going to win this year. I changed stories in midstream. My new goaal is completing words 5,000 of the new story.

I havent ever done it yet; I just learned about it a couple of months ago. And I do plan on joining in, though that might be a sign of insanity. After all, November is the height of term paper season for me. I did a test run last month, in a wild attempt to overcome my writer's block, and only got half way to the goal. But there was some characters and background that I can rewrite and save, so all was good. See you all in November.

This year is my first time to join and yes I am so excited I could barely wait. I have to stop my self from opening my notes on the stuff I am going to write lest I be tempted to start before Nano officially starts.
