I would have to say that the worst road trip we ever took, was when my husband, nephew, and I were traveling from here to Montana, and our car broke down on the way there, and we had to have it towed about 30 miles to my sisters. And then when they thought the Car was fixed it ended up breaking down again and it took like 4-5 extra days to get it working good enough to where we go home. And then ended up breaking down almost again about 4-5 hrs. from here on the way home. That Car had actually become a piece of junk at this time, but it will always stick out in my mind as the worst road trip aka vacation ever.
As for Best, I have had a lot of Fun trips in our lifetime. Probably one of my most memorable ones would have to be back when I lived in ILLINOIS and the many road trips to Washington DC and back when we got to stay in a Hotel, etc. This was a Fun time, and many wonderful memories when I think back to this.

Worst road trip ever - 27 hours of driving, blinding snow between Huntington, W. Va, and Trenton, N.J., one dreadful Christmas Eve. Four people, two dogs, my entire phone room setup, and all our personal belongings in a VW Fox station wagon. The car was packed so tight, we had to rearrange the stuff when we changed drivers because each space was shaped to the individual's body!
Best road trip - Trenton, N.J., to Ogunquett (sp?), Maine, with stops in Providence, R.I., and Boston, MA. Cool city life, beaches, sunrises over rocky shores, shopping, night clubs, National Parks, all with my best friend Vickie who passed away in 1996. We did the trip 4 or 5 times, until our friends who lived up there moved down South. Great memories!
