I want my children to have the winning attitude towards life. I want ehm to be ingrained with self confidence. As the saying goes, it is not the past that matters but what you do with your future that matters. Thus the decisions you make now, affects your immediate or long term future.
Persistence is another characteristici want to instill in my children. There is a video on YouTube that concisely shows how persistence pays off especially when you don't believe in yourself. Conquering you own fears. Only a short 6 minutes video but the message will last you through generations. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vB59PkB0eq
(If the link is incorrect, searh facing the giants on you tube.)
What characteristics do you desire for yourself? Or even instil in your children?

I want my daughter to be confident in her looks and in her future. I want her to be able to say I am me and if you don't like me that is ok. I want her to have the confidence to go out into the world and work hard for what she wants. I want her to know she doesn't have to settle for second. I am a strong confident woman and I think my daughter is very aware of her self worth. My daughter is sixteen and she is preparing to go to college in another year.
As a parent we are to guide them onto the right path. We are to make them feel special in all ways. we as parents don't find out till they are much older with families of their own just how good of a job we did with raising them. I lookforward to that day.

Hi sizzle, thank you for your reply. I am with you when you said we really do not find out till they have your families. Then again, you daughter is going to college very soon. My boys however, are only 3 and 6 now.
It's a lifelong project for the parents isn't it? :) - Lyn

I want my children to have courage, compassion and a good heart. Courage to let them face whatever challenges in life would come along their way, compassion for others who are less fortunate than themselves and a good heart to keep them strong and positive come what may and to do the good things that needs to be done to make a difference.

Hi cdparazo, i do share those ideals with you. It is tough enough to raise children these days. But to ensure that they turn out to be a 'wholesome' human beings, that takes a lifelong commitment of a very dedicated parent.
Hats off to us for taking a gigantic step to ensure the best for our kids. Cheers! - Lyn
