Too pretty/handsome to get a date??

Is it possible that someone is too pretty/handsome that people are intimidated by them and wont ask them to go out on a date? I saw a show once where these women claimed they had that problem. I wonder if that was the reason or if it was their "i'm too good for you" attitude that caused them not to get dates.. For the guys,if you had a choice between an average-looking girl who was nice and a gorgeous looking girl who appeared to be snobbish,which one would you ask our for a date?
