Modern geographers are starting to substitute the term "LEDC," or Less economically developed country, for this. It refers to a country that still "has a relatively low standard of living, an undeveloped industrial base, and a moderate to low Human Development Index (HDI) score." (Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Developing_nation) During the Cold War, the term "third world" came up. I never really knew what it meant until a history teacher explained it to the class. Most people don't use this term anymore, because it has derogatory connotations. I don't use any of them myself. What matters to me is morale. While the Wikipedia doesn't seem to refer to Mexico as a poor country, we Americans think of it as one. But I visited Tecate in 1996, and met some of the nicest, most hospitable people I probably ever will meet.

Your country's economy is growing at a fast rate. Which means that more and more people are gaining some form of wealth. Compared to the US, which is a developed nation, we have a higher standard of living and more people enjoy more wealth. We are not growing nearly as fast as India or China. Our economy is mature and much of our infrastructure is developed. In your country, you are probably still building basic facilities for power and water and travel(roads and cars). Also, new construction and expansion of modern operations for manufacturing and construction. As India continues to grow, more people will share in that growth as new jobs are created. The average person, for perhaps the first time, will have a number of opportunities to earn more money and make a better life for themselves and enjoy some modern convieninces. I don't know if you will make the timetable, because I think a lot will depend on the overall world economy. I think it is very possible.

Developed nations = a country that is economically very stable and well placed on the world markets, has word class medical facilities and resources, has a world leading government, excellent infastrucutre of transport and education etc. Countries like usa, uk, germany etc are developed countries because they match all the criteria above and more. Developing countries = a economy that is growing quickly, a government that is becoming more and more reputable and powerful in their own nation and on a global scale, improving infastructure in the country in transport, education and health, becoming more and more active on the importing of foreign goods and exporting goods from the country in question to the rest of the world markets. A country such as China would be a good example of this criteria. Hope this helps.

i think developed countries such as United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Germany, Russia, and Hong Kong are called develop countries because they are all wealthy, modern, industrial, and advance in technologies. and the developing countries like china and korea are called developing because they are progressive, able to compete in the world market and capable of expanding in promoting their country.

I think developed country is a country that has good human resources so that they're good in technology and is able to compete with another country. United Stastes of America is one example. India someday may be come a developed country if it has good human resources and no corruption in the government.

The difference is pretty self explaintiary. A developed nation would easily be US. A country developing, is a nation trying to keep up with the rest of today's race. Some country's just won't ever catch up. Depending if India, has the technological advances to gain their goal. I'm not all into this world stuff. The conspect of having every country in the world a super power, I'm not forsure that's a good thing.. lol

I am not exactly sure of the criteria considered for determining developed, but I would hazard a guess that being developed means you have all the current technology in use to provide the people of the country with all the necessities of life. You have health technology for proper health care, including birth control, sanitation and general education. You have education in place for all people not just certain classes. And development of your natural resources for the best use. I am just guessing here.

hi frien nice topic again when i was in school there was a topic in my book( class 4 ) "INDIA - THE DEVELOPING NATION". and i think my kid will also read the same topic because i dont think that india is goin to be a developed nation in near future. our main problem is outsourcing and our politics. to make india a developed nation we need a major chage in our politics leadership and have to ruleout the causes of outsourcing.otherwise the condition is not going to change.

DEVELOPED means full moon.....Saturated DEVELOPING (India) is a gworing (rising) moon. It will grow more and more. Anyway I understand that developed nations are nations with stable GDP, huge $$$ positive trade balance, stable currencies and economy depending on its own resources. But in our case we are heavily dependent on FDI (foreign disinvestment). Today Foreign inveaters can crash our sensex any time. CAN WE DO IT WITH OTHERS ! NO Today America can fight in Afganistan, IRAQ , thousands of mile away from their native land and still dare to threaten IRAN and KORIA. Can we do it. NO ! The moment we get engane with anyone in was (even in out homeland like Kargil), our sensex will crash, foreigh money will go, Rupee will crash. Black marketing will start in our markets. I think I should end here. I wish to see India as a developed nation, but we need another Gandhi to bring another revolution to Change current politics and corrupt system. Without that its too difficult because with current speed when we will be about to become a developed nation, definitions of developed would have been changed.

well its not only monetary n technologocial or political issues that make a country tagged as developed or developing...there's something more into the story...u see where does financial, political n other stabilities come from??...its from the people of the country..so u can put it this way...development of a country is the measure of how much the people of the country are hard working, patriotic n honest...

Hi Dude! Its Good question.Alright, our country may become developed nation.other countries like australia,U.S.A etc..are termed as developed nations. The main difference is that the government in U.S.A should punish the crime people ,There is no difference for highlevel people and low level people.so the crime rate should be reduced in foreign countries. But in India its impossible. Our Indians learn technology more and more and they are trying to leave the country for money making. This is major reason for, still our country in developing state. Political things also help for discourage our country development. They are trying to develop their economy, not the country economy.

Hello Mr. Badhan Wel as you asked For here is my point of vew about the Developed and developing nation 1)Developed nations== a.)This category of nations consists of nation who have cleared a barrer of Economic stabilty, poverty level and have per person income conisderably high then the survival rate /person. These nations(for example USA ,Euorpean counteries) have a large percentage contribution in world econmy, in other words these nations are the key world economic players. b.) These nations have better facalaties provided to their people and have better techincal growth as well. 2) Developing nations== developing nations is the other class or the catagory of nation which largly includes nations which got freedom from their rulers in the recent history( for eample india, bangladesh west indies, pakistan). these nations have an economy which is yet to acquire a stabale state i.e these economies depend largely upon the world economy and are making their way slowly but studly towards a stable ground.
