Hi~! I'm from Malaysia and I've only heard about Chicken Adobo but have never tried it before.. I also heard it mentioned by Apl.D.Ap in the song 'Bebot'.. =P
What is it actually? Chicken Adobo I mean.. But if u wanna share, what is Bebot? What are the ingredients?? It looks really good from the pictures I've seen.. One day I must try this dish! If I drop by Philippines in the future, I need to find the best place that serves this! And I bet that the dish is better homemade by your Mom rather than from the restaurants, ryte?

hi there. i am from the philippines.:) i would like to describe what chicken adobo is for you but i have seen that there were already people who posted recipes for you. :) well, i would just have to say that when you come here to the philippines, try to eat chicken adobo not in restaurants, not in ritzy dining spots, but eat it in "carinderias" or those little food stalls, because they taste a lot more like home. :)

lolz i agree with you jlara.. although its would be hard to send here to carinderias in pasay knowing that she is a foreigner.. but yes aside from the resto (kamayan) you can definitely try it in "carinderias" although i warn you that not all adobo taste the same in 2 carinderias...

there are food courts in the malls all over the country. you will never find it difficult to find one stall which will be serving the dish. before coming over, make a post about it. if you are going to manila, a mylotian from manila will gladly cook one for you. if you will be going to any island in the visayas or mindanao, you will be rest assured that all filipinos who knows how to cook, can cook it for you. you will have lots of fun doing some cooking. see you soon.

Hi mean_queen!
I'm from the Philippines and Adobo is one of my favorite dish! But not chicken adobo, I prefer pork adobo. You should try it if you happen to visit here. You can try to make this at home also, it's better home made. One of the members posted the recipe, so you could try it. :)

Sadly she stated that she indeed belongs to Muslim religion and she said because of that she can't try pork adobo that's why she wants to try chicken adobo.
As of me I want the mixed of pork and chicken adobo, there is a unique taste being formed in the fusion of the two different meat. You can also try to put some hard boiled eggs unto it. Its better if you will eat it after a day because I think adobo has a better taste when stored longer.

chicken adobo is basically chicken cooked in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, onions, pepper, etc. abodo is what filipinos are good at cooking. we mostly love adobo... can be pork, fish or chicken. and wherever you go here in the philippines, you can find good tasting chicken adobo.
my boyfriend who is a foreigner loved my adobo so much. he even asked about how i cooked it. and one day when we are together forever, i will cook adobo for him most of the time.

bebot means lady, girl, woman. i like to think of it more in the terms of an attractive woman. chicken adobo is a filipino delicacy wherein the main ingredients are chicken and vinegar. spices like garlic, onion bulbs, black pepper, laurel leaves are added in. whenever i cook this food, is sautee spices and i add some hot chilis and ginger. this is really very simple to do but it tastes so great. if one will use pork instead of chicken, one will have a pork adobo. chicken and pork adobo also tastes great. this is where both chicken and pork are being used at the same time in a single recipe/dish.

WOw.. that's very creative! But since we Muslims can't eat pork, I think I'll stick with the Chicken Adobo! It still looks absolutely yummy!! -from Malaysian Bebot!- hehehe..

My son-in-law is Phillipino and I looked forward to every time they come to visit or we go visit them, he knows I'll want him to make it, I've never watched him I know it has chicken and potatoes and Adobe seasoning in it, and served over rice. All I do know is it is soooooo goood! He was home (he's serving in Iraq) in March for two week leave, and they came to visit for a week, and yep, I had him make it! lol He loves making it though.

I am happy that you are interested in our chicken adobo. It's actually a simple dish that I assure you, you will enjoy greatly. When I was little, my mom sends me to the store to buy the what-would-be sauce. It can be cooked several ways, some people like theirs with a lot of sauce, and some (like me) like it dry. Any way you cook it, it's still satisfying.
Here's the simplest Adobo recipe (if you want mom's cooking)
chicken or pork (or combination)
1/2 part soy sauce and 1/2 part vinegar (depends on how much sauce you want)
pepper corn and bay leaf.
Mix all ingredients and boil until meat is cooked. It's that easy! If you feel that it's too salty you can add either vinegar or water.
my nieces like it with a dash of sugar and hard boiled egg.
Hope you get to try this dish.

This is a recipe for chicken adobo
Ingredients
2 pounds Chicken pieces
1/2 bottle White vinegar or cider vinegar
1/2 bottle Soy sauce
3 Bay leaves
Garlic, minced or powder
Onions, minced or powder or dried
Juice of 1-2 lemons
Pepper to taste
Water
Preparation
Rinse chicken pieces and place in large pot. Add vinegar and soy sauce to your own personal taste (I like it strong and use more vinegar than soy sauce)...I'd recommend at least half and half. If the chicken is not completely covered with sauce add water to cover...there should be more sauce than water. Add bay leaves, garlic to personal taste (again I put A LOT!), onions to taste, lemon juice and pepper. Bring to a boil, allow to simmer approximately 1-2 hours and then serve with rice. Sorry there's not a specific recipe, but you're nose will tell you when the mix is right! :)
Freeze in ziplock bags with sauce. thaw in refrigerator. Reheat in sauce until bubbly.

And I wouldn't know if I did it well.. But I must certainly try it one day.. Maybe when I've tried the real thing in Philippines, I'll cook this.. I don't wanna be turned off by my cooking! haha.. Thanks again babystar1!

well too bad i cant actually post a picture of chicken adobo in my response. however, chicken adobo is a common dish in the country. it can be chicken or pork or both... it is slow-cooked in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and black pepper... different regions in the country have different ways of cooking it and also have some added ingredients..
i actually dont know what resto serves the best adobo, since its quite common that every household have this in their dining table.. but im sure filipino restos like kamayan serve adobo, and other philippine cuisines...
