Does anyone but me ever get the impression that they are being "Had" regarding some of the discussions here on MyLot? I just responded to one that was so far-fetched, it had me shaking my head all the way through it. I think some people have very vivid imaginations and will come up with some of the darndest things just to make a post on MyLot. Anyone agree?

Oh yes, definately! But not just on MyLot, in real life too. My boss (won't be for much longer) is always coming out with storeis that i suspect are even if based on fact, very highly exaggerated and embelished! Maybe people on here come up with them in the hope of getting lots of responses?

Oh yes, why not. Anything for a laugh. The think that really stands out for me at myLot is the incredible number of people with no sense of humour. The 'happy clappy' brigade seem to be the worst.

The 'happy clappy' brigade. Very funny. I just imagine all the people you are referring with this sentence. And they have no sense of humor at all.

Yes, sometimes I wonder about some of the discussions b/c it sounds a bit too much like a Jerry Springer episode...if its too farfetched I won't bother and I move along. LIVE IN PEACE

It maybe that some are made up stories. I guess if you are tying ot come up with topics to start discussions that could get a lot of replies then there is a temptation to use the imagination a little. I don't think my imagination is good enough to do that but I think there are some very creative people on here, after all it is a site that could easily attract people with a talent for writing. I think it is a good way to practice your writing skills if you have them.

To be honest I don't know where your looking as I've never come across any discussions--at least not yet-- that are outlandish or too impossible to be believed --although one MyLotter did point out that there were some really just plain weird discussions to do with uh...bodily functions?? If you do a check you'll see a whole array of discussions about..get this...poop! Like who and why would you want to start such topics anyway?

ROFLMAO - I spotted one of those months ago & it's since been deleted! It was along the lines of "do you have to strain" or something like that. Seems poop is a fav subject on here! lol

Did it have anything to do with a very young little computer addict? lol I know just what you mean and quite frankly I don't even bother replying. Why give them attention when they are full of it?

Well, I can not judge if a person is making up stories or not, as many of my own real life experiences have appeared far fetched.. I mean many will not believe that I been hit by lightning more than one, work with spirits, and also one the lottery in 1999, and ended up in a rotten family situation afterwards etc... Not everything that people share or has been through is going to always appear true, and it may appear to be imagination.... I have witnessed so many way out there things, and experiences myself. That if someone is feeding me a line of fertilizer... They are probably doing so because they need the attention or wished that they had experiences such a thing... But I think to myself... Why on earth would you want to experience or go through that? :) .. And well sometimes stories are amusing, and for fun... and in other cases... People just like to present things in a way that is as creative and fun as they can present it. Like.. When it's snowing... I like to say... "The snow pixies are littering again!" Everyone goes huh? and all askes what I am talking about and I say look outside, as they ponder for a moment, and then realise it's snowing. For some making people stop to ponder and wonder is a wonderful thing, and can add fun to any old boring day. Take care, - DNatureofDTrain ... often accused of having a wild imagiation.. but the wilder life is.. the more wilder the imagiation will become! :) .

I never came across that and frankly I don't care, most dicussions are hypothetical anyway, so it doesn't matter to me.

I think sometimes it does happen. But there are times that they could also be telling the truth. Though it's hard to tell online when someone is being sincere or not. So I just take their word for it.

It has been this way for so long now, In the 6 months I have been here people are always making up wild stories, I suppose it make mylot what it is, some stories get some mylotters so worked up its funny to read their responses, i cant say i have ever made up a story. I always write what i think of or what comes into my mind, it is never made up usually something i have a passion for or something that has happened to me and I want people to help/respond/judge etc, i once found a guy who made up a story about havina rich gf and wantin to cheat but keep her for her money, obviously made up but he recieved well over 300 responses for it!

Yes, me too i see a lots of discussions that is really hard to believe. They have got good skills for attracting mylotters, but i don't really appreciate those discussions. I come here with my problems and get solutions from you all and i really make use of it at the same time i earn. But some people are not like that.

Yes this is true. In fact I already made this. It was in a really crazy topic about imaginary animals. The question was so strange that I have to make an even more strange response. It was really funny to make that post. But I think you are talking about more serious stuff, and I don't like to make things up about serious subjects.

I honestly believe alot of stories on mylot are made up just for responses. I responded to a few that were crazy. I guess that makes mylot interesting because I expect someone to come up with an extreme discussion or bizarre question.

I often wonder the same thing. Some stories just seem too weird or far-fetched to be true. I've also seen people asking things that they should not even have to ask. They should have enough common sense to realize they already know the answer. I think they use it as a means to try to make money. They figure if they post something like that, that a lot of people will respond and they will earn more.

I agree totally. Most of the discussions are made just for the hell of it. I know of this oen eprson who starts different discussions and he is a different age in each of them. Sometime she says he is a teenager and at other times he talks of being married and having kids.

People that I know offline tend not to believe things I tell them that are true, simply because of the way my life has been. So I'd really prefer not to judge others on these matters. I know what it feels like to be accused of lying when you are telling the truth, how harmful that would be. Once in a while I do see something that I think is a lie based on information the person has already given out in other discussions, but even then I would rather not reply than confront the person. Unless someone is a very close online friend of mine, I don't really have any reason to care if they are telling the truth or not.

Sure some of them are very made up, embellished and embroidered. Some I respond to, some I don't. No one is making us do this [MyLot]. I don't know why others are doing it but I am doing it for several reasons. Mostly for entertainment, but also high on the list is to make enough money to pay for my internet. Since I am using slow old dial up that's not real hard to do.

I'm not surprised I'm sure some do add to the story or just make up one altogether , they must have alot of time on their hands. I guess it doesn't really matter it's just writing and getting replies and how would one really know. Some may seem bizarre but actually true.

I think some discussions are started just for the shock of it all. Some are started to see how many responses can be achieved. Others are started out of pure meaness. The quality of discussions has certainly dropped, or at least it seems like it.

I have that problem in my day to day life too... Some people seriously just make up the most outrageous things they can so that people will listen to them... Really I think that it's sort of depressing.
