My son has all of sudden stop sleeping. he slept for about 4 hours last night and was up for the rest of the night and all day today (yes not 1 nap). Tonight I did our same old routine fed him, burbed him, we took a bath, I rocked him untill he was dosing off and then went and put him in his crib he was quite for about 10 min and then here we go again. i keep going in there and giving him back his pacifer and telling him goodnight and that moomy loves him and will here in the morning when he wakes up and every 10 min on the dot he starts again what do I do? I do not want to stay up all night again!!

Oh wow hun thats awful. How old is he? He could be going through a growth spurt with happens at about 3 weeks 6 weeks 3 months and 6 months. it could also be teething which can also occur at any age umm.....it could also just be that he wants mommy If it were me I would just bring him to bed with me and see if he sleeps that way. I have had to do that alot lately with my 10 month old cause as soon as I put her down she wakes up and won't sleep unless she is near me. Hope he starts sleepin for you soon hun

ok well he is probably going through a growth spurt. DO you have a swing for him? does he like it? if so I would try putting him in it for even just half an hour so you can sleep my sister did this with her daughter. or if you have some other toy for him that he likes and that he is safe in I woudl try that until he is outta this stage it usually lasts a week. Have you tried feeding him when he wants to play??? alot of time during growth spurts they are twice as hungry so I would try it.even if you have tried it before try again just in case cause babies change what they want every day

I am taking it that he is just a newborn. It may take him a while to find a sleep pattern that works for him but consistency is key. Keep the same routine at bedtime everynight. Soon he should get the picture. At this point nothing anyone says is going to work. You can still try but I found that my baby would sleep when my baby was ready not because I tried some certain thing. When he gets a little bit older he will be able to respong better to the 'remedies'/ Good luck!

Well i dont really know how old the baby is but: if its a small child you try and ensure that the baby is confortable, some times it might be the nappy (Napkin) when the baby is wet and the nappy is not able to absolve it, the baby becomes restless.

From my own personal experience, I can tell you that rocking him to sleep is the mistake. He cannot fall back asleep without it and he also is dependent on you to help him get back to sleep by going in his room every time he wakes up to give him back his pacifier. Instead of rocking him back to sleep after a feeding, just put him back into his crib and let him fall asleep naturally. It may take a few nights of him crying a bit, but it will eventually taper off and he will fall back asleep on his own after a feeding and not wake up again until morning.

wachit14,
I do not rock him untill he his totally asleep just untill he starts yawning and getting drowsy then I go lay him in his bed with his pacifer and he usually goes right to sleep that is it but lately he will not go to sleep at all.

I'm a father of five. When my babies don't or can not sleep at night, we gave them some thee of peppermint. This will relax them. We also toke into consideration the environment in which the baby sleep. It must be quiet, cool and without to many things around the bed or in the room. Perhaps your baby posses to much energie, or his / her stomach is working to hard digesting. In this case you must pay attention to what you are giving him to eat or drink before setting him to sleep. In all cases give him some peppermint tea.

You've gotten really good responses. All I can add is that I remember my sons not sleeping through and I do feel for you! I haven't had a baby in the house for a decade now but I still remember the exhaustion all these years later. Hang in there and try not to worry, ok?

Hi
I agree with all the rest of the advice given to you especially teething my daughter had her first tooth by 4 mths old so they do start young. I have one more suggestion to add first ask a question do you bath bub's in the day or night?
Try feeding then bathing at night as relaxing bath may help bub's sleep. Other wise it is probably a growth spurt they happen around 3 mths and unfortunately all mum's look like they need to sleep for a year after it's over lol good luck

arianasmum,
Yes, we do bath at night. I feed him ceral and then we will go take a bath (and I even use Jhonsons bedtime bath) and then we will go get a bottle while I rock him. Usually after he finishes that I will burp him and then go put him in his crib with his pacifer and he goes right to sleep no more noise untill 1:00 or 2:00 am for the midnight feeding. But lately he has not done that!! yes the dark circles are getting bad!!
