I am a complete beginner and have looked at a few sites I have found, none seem to be geared towards beginners. I really want to do some breathing exercises to help with sleepl and relaxation, but am not in a position to go to a class as I am either working or taking care of my baby (no babysitter) so if anyone has any suggestions about basic yoga positions and/or breathing exercises I would be most grateful.

There is a book, "Light on Yoga" and the shortened version "Concise Light on Yoga" that may help you. Personally, I find the process of making and drinking tea sufficient to realise 4 fold awareness and achieve a deep level of relaxation.

Imagine that moment of waking, when is some state not asleep and not awake, you are aware of what? What does it mean to be self-aware? Aware of what? Our body, internally, externally? Of our situation? Physically, socially, existentially? Of ego? Of...?

Hey I started with yoga about a year ago and it was tough to find something for beginners but it out there you can go to your local book store and get a book about beginning YOGA and you can also contact the web administrator from the sites that you are interested in and they can tell you abit more about beginning YOGA. I can tell you some relaxation exercises you can do it mainly streching and breathing. email me and I will let you know the steps. My email is mjdc@tds.net
