if there are only two jobs you really need to get, what will you choose among this two. Do you want to be a writer?
A writer who can write all the things he see, can comment on the things he knows, can show the world the truth and can even hide the truth away from the people. A writer who loves investigating on facts and writing them on paper. A writer who can do some undercover. One who's life can be so miserable for those libel cases he will get from writing all the truth or..
to be a photographer. The one who catches the action. One who pictures the things. Gives great evidence. Who loves everything they see (well at least only some are not lovable he he).
They say, pictures says the truth for picture CAN'T lie but pictures are sometimes not telling the whole story. It captures only the tiny second detail of a scenario. so what will you choose? to be a writer or to be a photographer? and why?
:)

I think I would make a better photographer than a writer. I had taken pictures before that got some very good feedback from friends. Though I love writing, I still believe that I could never make a living out of it. Writing may be an outlet for me emotionally, but photography is my way of seeing the world as I want them to be seen.

I think photographers are cool. They can capture every moments in a great shot. It's good to hear that you love and know it. :)

good photographers, in truth, makes good and better money than writers. this is because, good photographers are not so many and the satisfied customers keep on coming back for their services.

I am a photographer, but I like to write as well. My photography is mostly of beautiful things. (Animals, scenery, nature in general). But I also write about a lot of the things that I photograph. So, I think I have to be both in my case simply because one cannot tell the whole story sometimes in just a picture but one has to write a caption or an article to explain the whole meaning of the picture or details unseen by the naked eye. All in all, I am both and I don't think I could ever choose. However I have met writers that are capable of painting a completely accurate picture with just their words! I have seen photographs and even taken photographs that say all they need to in just that one picture. (Wether it be an expression on a face or a scenic view). SO I think I still prefer photographer simply because people can draw so many different things from a photograph. It's like telling a different story to each viewer in a lot of cases

yes that is true. Either of the two are just good. they can both paint and express a feeling that is like unexplainable by just words nor plain pictures only.

I would prefer to be a photographer. The job will be so much simplier for my big head. I only need to shoot. At most, I have to take more shots. Besides, carrying a camera kit around looks professional enough to me. To be a writer, there are too many things I need to consider and think. I am not one who can write easily and fluently. I am more concern my article will never get past the editor.

Have you heard about the story of four blind men trying to find out what was before them by feeling their way around the object. One said that it was like a huge table with four post or something. Each of the other three had their own opinion or description of the mysterious thing in front of them. In their description, they were all right, in certain areas and facts about the object. In the end it turned out that the object in front of them was an elephant.
Each of those blind men was describing excellently what they thought they were touching and feeling, but failing to see exactly what it was, the picture that formed in their eyes wasn't complete. If you didn't know they were describing an elephant, you wouldn't have any idea what it was.
Now, a picture on the other hand, as you say doesn't tell the whole story. A picture is just one snapshot of an unfolding story. You would have missed the before and after events of that single picture, so again the picture you form in your mind is incomplete.
So I would say that it is really hard for me to choose to be a writer or photographer only. I am actually doing both. If you will visit my blogs, you will see what I mean. One of them is http://ruralpinoybiker.wordpress.com. It tells about my life as a biker in and around Metro Manila. I use words and pictures to tell my story, as each one complements each other in developing the reader's perception and acceptance of what I am trying to put across.

I will choose to be a photographer, because I like photograph.I'm poor at writing,so I don't think that I can use the words to express myself and my feeling.I like to capture what I see,in addition, photoes can give a vivid and deep impression to people.Pictures won't tell lie.I prefer to show all the fact to public completely.

It would be photography for me. I love the camera and taking pictures exspecially when there is a story behind it. You can truly tell it in your pictures. Although I love writing I think that photography would always win out.

the jobs i hold had always been a play with words and numbers. if i don't do calculations, i make write ups. research papers and project proposals always demand a good mix of these. the last job i had with government had demanded a good knowledge on this regard.

I think I would definately prefer to be a writer to a photographer. It's how I see the world. I also know that I can describe what I see in my head so much better than actually putting it in to a picture. My husband is a photographer, and while he has a gift for words, he knows that I exceed him in that.

Well since I'm a visual kind of guy and I love taking pictures of nature and beautiful things and memorable events. I'd probably be a photographer. I agree, pictures could be deceiving but thats the beauty of it, you take one picture and thousands of ways to interpret it.
@mskzalameda (4023)

yes there are really many interpretations a single picture can have but words are like that too right? he he! :)

I love doing both but if it came right down to it I would have to say I would rather be a photographer. After all a picture can say a thousand words.

i think i'll prefer to be a photographer...u c graphics speak more than anything..i know many people who wud just turn the pages of a magazine to c the pictures in it..n if an article has some good pictures above them they automatically attract the readers towrds themselves...

That's a very good question. I think I would prefer to be a writer because there is less chance of technical difficulty.
I remember one day going out to take pictures and accidentally dropping my camera in water. I was devistated. Dropping my pencil or paper in water is a little less traumatic.
I love doing both, but I think writing wins. Let's face it, where would myLot be without writers?

I get writer's block quite a bit so I'm going to choose photographer. I love to write and I love to take pictures, but I think it is much easier to take pictures than to write plus you can take a picture of anything, writing actually takes some work.

Well pictures can lie sometimes, with all the technologies out there you can alter photos to look like something they aren't, and even photos taken in real time can lie as from one perspective it can look like one thing, an example is if you're reaching your hand out to greet someone and there is a women just behind you it might look like you're grabbing the girl depending on the angle of the photo. It's happened a few times especially with famous people. this video of Mar Anthony plays with that topic http://www.hi5.com/friend/video/displayViewVideo.do?videoId=2466806&ownerId=49486990
I like to write and take photos but I think that I'd prefer photography as you can get writers block and not know what to write for a long time but there's always things to take photos of! I like the topic :)

Writers can be photographers. Even without camera, they can still provide pictures through words. Photographer, on the other hand can provide pictures that words describe, in more detailed feature. But they can only provide captions...
I would like to be both. But I think it would be better I will just be a CAMERAMAN instead or I'll just bring a recorder with me.
