After watching Veronica Mars tonight, and remember the movie The Skulls.. I sit here and wonder, do secret societies exist? My brother says Yes, and I say yes too, but how to know for sure? I mean, they're secret, so no one knows but the people involved, and obviously they'll do anything for us never to find out about them. So if we can't prove their existence, do they really exist? It's like the universal question : Does God Exist? ; we can't prove it but a lot of people believe God does exist.
What do you think? Secret Society? How do you become a member? Any thoughts?

I'm sure there are secret societies. For example, certain institutions, such as the military, have a hierarchy of command that meets together--a secret society? Maybe that's pushing it, but cults are generally secret until they go all Heaven's Gate and get mass-media attention so yes, I'm sure there are secret societies.

the Free Masons are considered a "secret society" and they certainly really exist and have been around since 1717 when the first Grand Lodge was created.
and yes the secret society called "Skull and Bones" really does exist. it was established in 1832 at Yale University.
by definition the term "secret society" means an organization that conceils its activities from the public, or non-members. and not necessarily that nobody knows anything about them.
