I fully agree with the previous poster that possessiveness is not gender related.
Anyone, whether male or female, could be possessive.
I feel that it generally depends on the distinct characteristics or unique personalities of individuals.
For instance, if a person, regardless of gender, has a great sense of ownership or possession of things that belong to him/her or persons who have a certain attachment or affinity to him/her, it is quite likely that he/she will be possessive.
Though I agree with the previous poster that possessiveness is not gender related, I would have to disagree that males are more possessive or control freaks than females, since based on my personal experience, the reverse is true.
Regardless of who's more possessive, though, I feel that the real question should be what are the advantages or disadvantages of being possessive.
