Is Daniel Radcliffe too old for the role of Harry after Order of the Phoenix?

I'm sure they will continue to have him as Harry. He's not that much older the character after all. I know of many teenage characters that were played by far older actors. Tom Welling of Smallville fame is one. He's thirty now and playing a 19 year old. Mark Hamill was 28 when he played the 18 year old Luke Skywalker, Barry Williams was 29 when he played 18 year old Greg Brady and so on. Many times the actor or actress is many years older then the character they play. It's just a matter of what they look like in the movie or show. Many have a baby face and can get a way with it where as some can't.

See I don't have that problem with most actors. I might identify them with one character but I love seeing them in different roles. I've seen Tom Welling in a few things besides Smallville and thought he was very believable in the roles. I didn't seem him as Clark Kent in them. I didn't see the Fog but I did see him in Cheaper By the Dozen 1 and 2 along with Judging Amy (pre-Smallville days).

Yeah they do really look young. I'm just afraid Daniel will become like a "Movie Actor" and can never move out of the Harry Potter image. As to Tom Welling and Mark Hamil, I think that being a "TV" and "Movie" actor has become their problem.
Like in Tom Welling's movie The Fog...he's acting and wearing his Smallville clothes etc. etc. hehe, I just can't imagine him as a versatile actor after watching 6 seasons of Smallville...

I heard that Daniel did a stage play where he took his clothes off...I think that was his way of "growing up" his image. Maybe he's sending us all a message. "I'm not a little boy anymore!" We hear you Daniel. Hope the next Daniel film is as spectacular as the last ones were.

it would be totally different and boring if they would replace daniel radcliffe for the role of harry potter, definitely! so whether he too old or not, it would be best for him to remain on the role because he's harry potter from the start

I think it would be kind of ridiculous to change the actors after five films now that fans have grown so accostumed to them. It would make a lot of fans absolutely furious, including me. I don't think I would be able to enjoy seeing a completely new cast after so long! As far as I know, Dan is still set to play Harry in the last 2 films. After all, he will only be 18 when Half Blood Prince is being filmed, and Harry is 16 so there's not that much of a difference.
Tom Felton is actually the oldest of the main kids (he's currently 19) so he will be three years older than his character for Half Blood Prince. I still don't think there is a large enough age gap for it to matter. Actors in their 20s have been playing teenagers for a long time!

I do not think he is too old for the role of Harry after Oder of the Phoenix.
I think age is not the most important thing in performance.

Welcome to myLot.
No, I don't think he is too old - he still looks quite young and the teenager.
I think the problem will be with Ginnie and Hermione. They have definitly grown up in the right places. haha

i dont think daniel radcliffe is too old... in fact i think... we all have seen him do all the harry potter movies so far... so we dont want to remove him of the harry potter image.... i mean... whenever i am reading any of the harry potter novels... and i am imagining everything... as i am reading.... i always picture daniel as harry potter.. and hence ... rupert as ron and emma watson as hermoine ....

personally i don't think they cshould change daniel radcliff for someone younger, but the problem with the films is that they are made around 2 years apart from each other, rather that trying to get them done once a year so that the actors looks are only reflected by one years growth like in the books.
perhaps they will change him, i don't know, but i doubt many people who are fans of the film will be too happy if they do, as i think many have enjoyed watching daniel radcliff and all the other children in the cast grow up to be what they are now.

Yeah I will miss Daniel being Harry Potter... It would be weird if they put another young guy in behalf of him :p (he will be always compared to Daniel)

In each book, Harry ages a year. So far there has been a Harry Potter book made each year (may be a little stretch between when it's made and when it's released) So Daniel ages about the same as Harry, so in my opinion He just stays at the age of Harry in the movie that he is making.

The books are always better than the movies so I cannot say that I will be sad when the movies are done. I hope to see him in things that are not Harry Potter as I believe he has some real talent that we won't see until he can break out of the Harry Potter Mold. I would like to see him in something not Hogwarts related. The movies have been okay but if you read the books first the movies are never as good in my opinion. I was hoping that the Harry Potter thing was going to be over but apparently there is even an 8th book in the works. I love Harry Potter..don't get me wrong but I think there is only so far you can take the whole Voldemort thing before it gets a little too absurd.

Yeah movies can be unfaithful to the book version so I hope there is no cut-off age for Daniel =)
