Do you think most people now rely on the internet more than books in terms of researching and studying?

sadly i think the answer is yes. when my friend and i opened our own little bookstore, it was with the hope of sharing our passion for reading with others. however, people close to us were saying discouraging things like "nobody reads books nowadays", "its better if you open a computer shop/internet cafe than a bookstore","do you really think people care to read these days?" my friend and i did not let ourselves be discouraged, we went ahead and opened our store. now we have members but not really that many. despite this, we are still hopefull. we need to improve our marketing skills but we're never going to give up on reading.

Thanks for sharing. I believe that internet shop is more profitable business than a bookstore nowadays. But I guest it really doesn't matter, and there is nothing wrong with you choosing bookstore if it your interest

Hmmm, I work at a university and it seems that students are still a bit wary of relying on teh internet for research. Using references like wikipedia and other sites make students worry because anyone could be posting the information and it is hard to know if it is completely accurate. Those who do use websites are very careful to use ones that have been approved by the university library or are run by a goverment office. I will admit that more scholarly journals are available online then before, but I still find the libraries to be quite packed. As for casual and fun reading. I think that people still use both. I prefer books because I find them more portable.

Unfortunately yes as the internet is entering in the everyday life its becoming more popular, easy, fast and common source to get certain information and knowledge and its cheap aswell.Almost all the students linked with higher studies taking the help of internet to get their assignments done quickly and more efficiently its sad to see this but also its beneficial for the cause of a common student.

internet is obviously much more faster than books in terms of searching for information...but once you know what you are looking for exactly and you get the perfect book(it's the tougher part..but still you have ebooks) you can relax ,take your own time to go through it.... So i think both books and net play a key role in researching...

Usually when I need to look up something quickly I will rely on the internet. But when doing research papers and such, teachers usually require that some books and traditional resources are used. Some information is better found in books, though it can be somewhat annoying when I'm forced to look for something in a book which I know I could find online much more easily.

I think it depends on what you are researching for. If it's for high school, I think it's okay to research on the internet, but for college classes, internet sources aren't good enough. I know that we are only allowed to use certain internet sites, but the most websites wouldn't be very reliable. Although, to meet both sides in the middle, there are several books on the internet in .pdf form, so it's just like reading the real book. I don't know, I guess it just depends on the situation.

I think yes you are rught that people are, now a days, relying on internet. But I think the importance of books can not be denied. Online reading reading can not create the impact the books create. So, I myself prefer Books.

I ove to read but don't have a lot of time for it. However, I try to sit on my swing for at least 30 minutes a day to read. I do believe that the research options online are much better than trying to find things in the library. You could search hundreds of books to find something that you can find online in a matter of a few minutes. I also find that a lot of the information in the books is out dated and usually the information on the net is fairly current and accurate.

YES! I am a student writer and my teacher always says not to rely fully on the Internet. I understand that the Internet is probably more convenient and it has tons of information, but there is no substitute for a well-written book. The Internet also tends to have false information. I am trying to break myself from my Internet dependence when it comes to research.
