Hi guys! We all know that Audio CD's are expensive and tend to wear-out overtime. To preserve albums of my favorite artist I convert those audio files to MP3 and stuff em up on my computer. I also tend to upload these files on my phone and my ipod. I also share these files to my friend's mobile devices. Am I doing something illegal?

No, you're not doing illegal. You have full rights to those songs since you are the one who purchased the CD. You can share the songs to your friends. But, there is a limitation to that, you shouldn't make copies of the songs with the intent of selling them to the public. You shouldn't upload large amount of songs online so as to share it for free with a mass of online users. It's like broadcasting these songs to the public and they get free download of the songs. This will violate the law of the rights of the artists of these songs. So, just keep saving those songs in your PC and sharing them with your friends and you'll be fine. Good luck! =)
