it has become common problem. Today it is difficult to differentiate between a person who is actually needing help and a person who is pretending to need help. begging has become profession.that people dont like to trust their money in others hand if they are not even going to get the satisfaction to help someone who is actually in need. so giving someone food who claims to be hungry is a good thing rather than giving them money,

I would prefer to give food, because that way I know the person is getting something they really need, and wouldn't risk them spending it on something they don't need or getting scammed like I have before.

I give what I have to give or what I might think would do more good. Sometimes I give nothing, other times I'd buy them food, other times I'd give money.

first of all their homeless not beggars and i would give them food because last time i gave money and i watched this man go right into the store and he bought booze with the money i gave him instead of buying a descent meal, and from that point on i was scorned from that, but i still give money when i have.

I would much rather give food. A few years ago, we had gotten a few party subs for a picnic and didn't even touch one of them. We sliced it, wrapped up individual slices and took them into a city nearby. Most of the people on the street were very thankful, but some refused the food and asked for money. It made me sad to think that their "habit" was more important to them than food. Well, we tried.
