Saying thank you is expressing gratitude. Is it important?

I like it as a general pleasantry. It shows that people would rather send you positive vibes than negative or neutral, even if they barely, or don't, know you. I also think it's incredibly important for establishing relationships. If a random person or an acquaintance steps in for you in a time of need, then taking the time and making the effort to really, genuinely express your gratitude can win you a friend. Not just any friend; the kind who proved to be a great choice even before you even considered them.

As a way of deepening relationships and respecting the efforts of others, saying "thank you" is invaluable. Meaning it sincerely is even better, because it is felt more substantially by people even if they are strangers. In many ways gratitude is a connection with the universe and your personal beliefs in a higher power... so yes, I believe it is important. :-) Thank you for asking. Cheers, Moonstone22

It is important, giving people the feeling that you appreciate whatever they have done for you! Don't you like it when someone says thanks? Saying please and thank you are basic things in a good education, according to me. One however does not have to exagerate in gratitude, as that can be annoying too.

Yes, exageration would be over-doing it and migh sound fake. I strongly believe in showing thanks. It is part of having a grateful heart.
