When you have a decision to make, how do you go about it?

Would you pray about it? How would you know by praying what you should do? How would you go about finding out what the right decision would be? I am very curious to see how each of you make your decisions. Do you ask other's opinions? Do you throw out a fleece, like Gideon did in the Bible? Just how do you go about know you are making the right decision?

When something is so important that we have to contemplate the right decision, for me, prayer is certainly the first thing I go to.
How would I know by praying what I should do? Because I believe God will somehow tell me or show me the right direction to take. He always has in the past.
With the opinions of my family and what we believe in I am always certain of the direction or decision I should take.
On the other side of the problem, consider what confusion is and where it comes from. If you feel confused over an issue, the solution is being blocked. (We believe that too).
Without preaching about anything, we have a deep faith in the ability to hear or see God's direction.
That's how we handle making any decision and it's worked for us for many, many years.
Thanks for a great discussion mamacathie.

Thanks so much, Terilee, that was a great response. Yes, we know who is the author of confusion and it is not God. Thanks so much for responding.

I can only pray that we who do believe in God begin to stand up more for HIM and what is right, without having to feel like we cross the line or 'offend' anyone.

Hi mamacathie!
When I have a big decision to make I always pray about it and then discuss things with my husband. A lot of times I have failed to talk to my husband about something and try to handle it all on my own and then when it gets rough tell him so I can get help with it. I'm the type that I try to do everything by myself, which is wrong of me.

I am so bad at that too, SheliaLee. I want to try to handle things all by myself. Thanks for posting.

I do pray about it. I try to gather as many facts as I can. I discuss it with my husband. I have very seldom in my life put out any type of fleece. I read my bible prayerfully and regularly. Because I have been doing this for a long time I believe I have a good sense of what GOD expects of me in general behavior.

I tend to get a coin out and flip it OR i get 2 people to think of a number, add those numbers and then count between the decisions eg- decision A would be 1 then B would be 2 then A would be 3 and when i get to my number whatever decision i land on i choose that

well,i don't flip a coin to decide which one i will choose or which decision i will make.lol,i don't believe in that kind of thing.
when i have to make a decision, for example,go to work or keep studying at school,i will estimate that if i can afford for learning in a new college,to get my diploma,if i didn't have enough money, then i will work for a period first then do what i want to do.actually this is a easy decision to make lol.and meanwhile,if i can't decide something,i will ask my friends,my parents for advice, sometimes they are much more clear than me about my situation.

I dont' flip a coin either. Yes, parents do have more experience so they can put a light on some decisions that we need to make. Thanks.

I usually take advice from elders before making any important decisions. I even refer to people who are experts in the subject regarding which I am going to take decision. The next step is to analyse the pros and cons of the various alternatives and then choose the most optimal solution. Sometimes I just go by my instincts. It is said that your subconscious never gives you wrong advice. As you have stated about the prayer, I would like to say that prayers help to calm your mind and your subconscious mind becomes active by which you get the message accurately.
