I can truly say I don't really adore many types of music, todays music is just too painful, too posturing, too plastic ! But The Band does it for me in a profound way! I only get halfway thru High On The Hog and I feel like a homegrown cousin from the states, lol, not a donut from south africa. The taste and flavour of America runs through the lyrics of all their songs, I am a sad junky awaiting my fix of american savour...how lucky you americans are,by the way mmm...The Band. These songs just awaken all kinds of things in me, Like Shufflin down to Memphis, those lyrics are like Hicksville Tennesee mixed with Country Cousins. Makes me feel like a homegrown southern bwaai ! :} I have been known to play Memphis at full tilt on a Monday morning at 8am.That from a female who is nearly 40? My neighbours are a lot of crusty oldsters as well, lol. Timeless jiving, I guess. I always blow them away. Sometimes I just need to! :} Love you The Band Lovers

I never heard of The Band. I'm a jazz lover my self. I appreciate any kind of jazz from blues to contemporary. But then I mix it up with Dance music, pop, and other easy listening stuff.
Country is ok. but I do like Leanne Rimes, Shania Twain, and other cross over country artist.
40 is still young, at least to me it is since I'm over 40 myself. I guess you are only as young as you think you are.
