I say don't do it. When it comes to the DS Lite if you are a "hard-core" gamer you will most likely break the hinges on your DS Lite.
Also, with the DS lite your GBA game sticks out farther and the unevenness of it bothers me.
The brighter screen is not worth it, and the L & R buttons cramp your hands trying to use them.

i was wondering that myself
I know that my husband keeps hitting the power button on the regular DS, and I know on the lite the power button is in a different location so that I think that would be helpful.

Ok, my friend was complaining about that also, but i really don't hit the power button accidentally like some people so thats not an issue for me, but thanks for the info.

A DSlite really is a lot better. I like the smaller size and lighter weight but the bigget differences is the screen it is a lot brighter than the DS one and you can change the level of brightness when you first turn it on, so if you're playing in the dark you don't need it as bright and you can save battery life. I sold my DS on ebay with a couple of games I no longer played and made $100. I know gamestop had a promotion, I don't know when it ends, but they give you I think $60 for trade in when you trade in your DS for a light, so at least you don't have to pay full price.
