Wet hair doesn't cause grey hairs, it's a myth and sounds very unscientific. The change in hair color is caused by the gradual decrease of pigmentation that occurs when melanin ceases to be produced in the hair root. This causes new hair to grow without any pigment=grey hair. Genes might play a role, but apparently that hasn't been firmly established yet.

I have never heard of that before. I am getting gray hair though and I always go to bed with wet hair. I'm 45 though so I expect to get a few gray hairs.

oh, hmm. now that's hard to assess. but maybe your growth of grey hair was triggered because you always sleep with wet hair? i dont know, really. im just guessing. lolz. :)

wow! I thought that I had heard them all, but this is a new one on me! There are so many 'old wives tales' about what causes grey hair, but in actuality, it is just caused by the natural aging process. Genetics can play a role too. There is nothing that will slow the process.

Just answered similar question, the other theory was that sleeping with wet hair causes blindness now its causing us to have a grey hair. That's a new angle to the age old myth that has surrounded our belief on sleeping while our hair is wet. I used to hear this from my grandmother but then I outgrew this myth and since my parents did not imposed this belief I have not practiced it or followed such a myth. Now I still can see and I do accept my hair is starting to turn grey but I don't think it's because I slept while my hair is wet but I am growing old already.
