It seems so long ago. My son is now nearly 30 but in some ways it is like yesterday! After 3 days of labour my son came into the world and it was like everything in the past had been wiped out. I was a Mum and this tiny, red-faced little boy was yelling at me at the top of his lungs! He was my son - my own flesh and blood. The pride, concern and emotions you feel - all varied. I felt overwhelmed, scared, happy, worried, inadequate, unprepared and loving all at the same time. I still feel that way about him today.

Well, I'm not a mother, but i can tell you that the day my son was born, was one of the best days of my life. The first time i held him, i was in awe of this tiny person that we had created, and were now responsible for. And i was terrified at the same time. Not for me, but for him, and the pain that i knew he would go through in life, and the fear of what the world would be like for him as he grew older. But as a father, i'm hoping that that joys and happiness will outweigh the pain. Sometimes it's like seeing a whole new world through his eyes. He's four years old now, and i still remember that day clearly. I hope to remember that day clearly for the rest of my life.
