Check out a sunscreen called "Baby Lizard". It is hypoallergenic AND chemical free. SPF is 30.

I just found out about it this year myself. My son is 22 now, so I have not tried it on any small children BUT I have some pretty serious allergy problems and I have used it on myself without any problems. One of the main ingrediants in it is zinc oxide, which is the main ingrediant in most diaper rash creams/ointments, and it is marketed for children.

I put baby sunscreen on my 8 week old daughter when we spent a week down in Florida. The directions say to check with a doctor before using on children under 6 months so if you feel the need I would suggest calling the doctor. My daughter was fine with it though, it's much better than dealing with a sunburn!

We had a blast in Florida... we went to Destin on the Gulf. It was beautiful. My daughter spent most of her time under an umbrella being passed around and napping, she was not a fan of the water.

Our pediatrician okay'ed sunscreen for our son once he was 4 months old. We didn't take him out in the sun much, but he has pale skin like I do, and I don't leave the house without putting sunscreen on during the summer. Even during the winter I wear it if I know I will be outside for more than 15 minutes. The two sunscreens my pediatrician suggest were Aveeno baby sunscreen, and Coppertone WaterBabies. She also said to be really careful on his face, so he wouldn't get it in his eyes, nose, or mouth. And if he sucks a thumb, don't put it on that area.

Oh no! dont just put anything or something to your baby's skin without consulting her pediatrician..try to seek advice to her pediatrician before you proceed on applying something for you baby, baby's skin is so sensitive...

I am not sure with this.. but if I were you, I won't put products on the baby's skin at this early stage.. it might cause his skin irritation because babies have really sensitive skin.

I just read about this in the June issue of Parents magazine, the link is www.parents.com if you want to read it yourself. It has an article about protecting kids from the dangers of the sun. Within the article it has a little blurb about babies under 6 months. According to this the American Academy of Pediatrics says it's alright as long as you only use a small amount and keep it away from their eyes and mouth. It mentions two brands that are supposed to be gentle enough, Aveeno Baby Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion with an SPF of 55 and M.D. Moms Babysilk Sunscreen Towelettes with an SPF of 35 plus. It also adds to keep the little ones out of direct sunlight and dress them in light clothing and a hat. Hope that helps!

They make special sunscreen lotions for babies. Try it on a small area frst to watch for skin reaction/allergy. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend a good brand in your area.
