Parthenogenesis...can it happen in human beings?

parthenogenesis..is basically development of an embryo without fusion of sperm with the ova...in other words it is virgin birth..it has happened in mammals like the komodo dragon and hammerhead shark..scientists say the reason this occurs is because they cannot find a mate...a sign of evolution...so,can this happen in humans?if it does..will males lose their purpose.??
