I'm heading to Beijing again this summer. My parents have seen most of the city sights. We did all the major attractions and some out-of-the-way places as well. I was wondering what day trips (or longer) there are from Beijing. I was considering taking a train to Datong or Tianjin. Any suggestions?

your name, lol,is interesting.i guess you know some Chinese.
do you mean you want to go to Datong or Tianjin from Beijing?if it is that,i can find the right time and the right train for you,you just have to tell me when you want to take the train.
and another thing is,maybe you need to book a ticket three days ahead or more,or i can't make sure that you still can get a seat on the train, because during summer vacation the train station is very busy.

I was just looking for suggestions about places to go and things to see outside of Beijing. I originally wanted to go to Kunming, but my parents decided it was too much flying. I know Tianjin and Datong are nearby, but I don't know of anything else.

hmm, well,it only takes an hour or two(decided by your train) to get to Tianjing from Beijing, you can take the train D535,it leaves at 9:21 AM,and arrived at 10:30 AM,and it costs 42 yuan.
:) if you need any more information, just ask me,if there's something i don't know,i'll search for you,it's easier to search in Chinese.
can i add you?it will be easier to send messages.

It's very convenient for you to go to Tianjin from Beijing. You can take a coach. It's very comfortable and fast. You don't have to wait for a long time to take a coach.
I like Tianjin very much. Especailly Yang Liu Qing and the food street there. I hope you will have a nice trip!
