why are we tempted to gossip?

hey guys. it has been known that to gossip is some kind of a bad thing. but even though we know that it is bad and it is one of the sources of conflicts, we still do it! and the worst thing is, there is nos uch thing as correct gossip. there is always something added or lessened in the fact when it is gossiped.
well, what can you say about this, guys? why do you think human beings are inclined and tempted to gossip?

Most of the time gossip is said to either make you feel part of the group or to get friends. It can also be to be hurtful to someone else. Sometimes we are just relaying information that we want to share. I think overall we all just want to be part of something bigger and if we can tell you why you don't want to be with someone else, maybe you'll want to be with us.

yeah, you're right. maybe we gossip not mainly because we want to hurt someone or ruin their reputation byt maybe its because we just want to belong in a group, so that we can feel that we are not being left out when the group begins to gossip.
