My daughter (7) only likes cheese pizza, mac n cheese, fries, hotdogs, grilled cheese, corn dogs, pancakes, eggs, french toast, chicken nuggets or strips, peanut butter/bread sandwich, and green beans. (she like chips and junk.. but I am just including food that counts)
I have tried everything. I have taken her to the doctor and he has told me to present her with the meal as I cook it and she can eat what she wants. And to let her know that is all she is going to get. Well... That is not working. She will not try new foods. We have gotten her to try them a few times, but as soon as she puts them in her mouth, she gags. Any suggestions???

Oh geez I give up on that one, I have two and it took me 15 years to get my daughter to at least try it...the quote experts say that have to have it like 20 times b4 they will get the taste for it.

Really, if you think about the things she DOES it, it's not too bad... I'd simply not have the junk food available to her. Assuming that she has no medical problems that might impact the way she tastes food, I'd drop the issue with her - she won't try new foods and gags when she does - I'd worry that she'd go on to develop an eating disorder if this continues to be an issue. I read somewhere that children's tastes change as they grow and perhaps this will sort itself out over time. I do wish you luck!

when my son was a child he was also a very picky eater and I worried because he seemed so skinny. His pediatrician told me that no child will starve if food is available. Kids just don't have a great appetite sometimes but as long as they know there is food for them they will eat when they are hungry. He is grown now and a really big eater!

Don't worry too much. As one of the other posters said, children's tastes change as they grow older. My 3 1/2 year old is going through a stange right now that all he will eat is grits and ramen noodles. As long as your daughter is getting some nutritional food, don't worry. As she matures and her taste buds change she'll start to try new food. My Mother in Law was shocked after my husband and I got married. She came over for dinner and I cooked Broccoli and my husband ate some of it. My mother in law couldn't believe it. She said he would never touch the stuff when he was growing up. There's hope.
