I have been on the internet for some time and have noticed that some I have come in contact with use the internet to become someone they arent. The question is why would they? I dont understand why someone would want to be a person they dont work to be in real life. Any one that isnt happy with themselves should take the time and make an effort to change to the person they want to be and not just pretend. What do you think and how do you feel about this?

There are some reasons and some of them can be serious. Just imagine this case. I met a person who is inteligent, jolly, very sensitive and good one. But he is disable as result of accident. So he uses Internet for keeping the touch with the world. There are very delicate limits between the desired image and the cheating. It`s not neccesary to lie.

personally i try my best to come across as just me, i am not into trying to pretend to be something that i am not.
the picture i have here on mylot was take a few months ago using my web cam, really i should change it as i have had my hair cut, but that's more to do with being lazy than being deceptive...
i initially bought my web cam so that if i met someone on the internet that i wanted to hand out my msn to, then they would be able to see me, and not some fake picture that i "want them to believe" is me.
i am also honest about my lifestyle too, i have a son who is almost 9, i had him when i was 18 and i am a single mother, yes people may frown apon my life choices, but hey, they were my choices and i have no need to hide them!
for those that seem to feel the need to lie about any aspect of themselves on the web, they must be very insecure and need total acceptance from others, i really can't see the need for the deception otherwise.
