When did you let your child start helping mow the lawn?

I recently taught my 10 yr old son how to use the riding lawn mower because he is always begging to help. He's big enough to reach the clutch/brake without any assistance and I am always outside when he's on it. He's been instructed that he's not to go faster than 3rd gear and how to turn the mower off if he has to stop/get off for any reason. Our yard is fairly flat and he only gets to mow a small part of it anyway because I don't let him mow around my flowers. When did all you Mylotters let your kids start mowing the yard?
