In life changing situations, do you panic or stay calm?

I saw big mylotters panic this morning and tons of new discussions about star dropping issue. It happens to all of us, so what’s the reason for panic and cry? I don’t like star system anyway. I have my own judgment about my friends on my lot. I don’t need mylot to tell me who can be “good boy” and “bad girl”. Relax, nothing really happens, we are still friends…:) Do you panic in real life or stay calm?

I saw that as well, and made a topic about it. I didn't get much response, i think people were to frantic to notice. I really don't care about the star ratings either, simply because its my opinion and i'm going to say it whether people like me for it or not. If you didn't want my opinion you shouldn't have asked, so just deal with it lol. I think that in life when a life changing decision happens I tend to get frantic, and worry about what happes if i decide either way. i try to stay as calm as i possibly can, but when you have a son and husband you tend to worry about you choices. At least i do, good luck with your discussion.

I stay calm in crisis situations to the point that I often question my own humanity. On several occasions it's helped me save a life, or get aid to someone I care about, but even if i'm riding to the hospital in an ambulance with them, I have absolutely no concern. I remember thinking half the time that I should be upset or show some emotion, but it just doesn't happen. Rarely a few days after a situation I might show some emotion, but generally I went into action and never looked back. Case in point. I skipped school one day when I was younger, faking sick. If I hadn't done that I wouldn't have been at home when my mother collapsed. I didn't check her, didn't ask her what happened. The instant she dropped I walked over to the phone, dialed 911, and informed them of the situation. I love my mother dearly, but I felt no concern at all. It is an incredibly useful facet of who I am, but it sucks mightily. it causes me to question my morality too often. I genuinely care about people, but when they're hurting or in need I help them, but feel nothing while doing it.

staying calm doesn't mean that you don't have any feelings, your instincts let you stay home to save your mother...when we are in life threatening situations, very often we are looking out emotion, because we feel responsible at the moment....

Let me tell you something silver. You would make an excellent paramedic or firefighter. I truly do not think you have much to worry about here. You say you feel nothing when these events occur. Consider the person who runs instead of helping. There are many who would. Which would you rather be. Some people cannot face even the slightest problem without panic. They are immobilized and are a danger not only to themselves but to the very person who needs them the most. Fear not your lack of feeling. At some level you have it or you would not help at all.

you are right my friend...of course I do agree with you.. I give the highest star to all my friend in my heart and they are so precious that they are priceless and make my life worth living!! so I am with you when you say that a star is not so important...anyway when I read all the discussions I realised they changed my star, too. I didn't notice it before..it was a bit disappointing not because it is so important but because I could not understand what I did ...so I hope they could give us some sort of explanation only to show their respect to us..but of course we don't need it to evaluate people not here and not in the real life of course...people are the same whatever the world is thinking about them..their value is hidden in their souls and in what they mean for us

I do have a tendency to stay calm. i will divide it to two parts: the first part is that one that involves other people, like, accidents, terror attacks, wars and other mess happening, if it is proper to phrase it in that way. In those situation, i stay calm, and tend to be the leader, to organize everybody, and to calm people down. The second part is: myself. When i have an extreme changes in my life, i do try to stay come, because i usually think that changes are for the good, and that you have to see the good side of everything. I also know that the changes that i am experiencing is a the dynamics of life, and that if i scared it is probably because i am having a hard time setting myself free from a situation i was stuck in. So usually i am calm, but there are some times that i do have a storm inside of me, but i can not say that it is panic. About the start method system, i have to say that i do support it, not because it matters to me personally, but because it does work for many other people, they do enjoy seeing their start rated ten, and feel that they are given attention and are appreciate it. so i do think that it is a good idea. I do not think that people got panicked here because of the star situation, they just found another interesting thing to post about. LOl.

I don't usually panic because every time I'm faced with problems I always tell myself "I can do it, I can get out of this mess." It's my way of keeping myself strong so I can face my problems and worries head on.

I don't panic when my star rating goes down this morning, but i admit i feel a bit disappointed. I think i will still not panic about it as long as it will not affect my earnings.

The panic I thing except the nature character of each one of us has to do also what difficulties we faced at the life. When anyone face the hard site of the life and specially when was small ,learn to deal with difficult situations and stay calm but those they was lucky and the life was good with them they panic faster ..at least these is my conclusion Of course all these in general, now about mylot I didn't panic but I fell disappoint little until I see that happened to all of us.The disappoint has to do with I didn't understand the reason,I worry little for my English so I thought did something wrong but I didn't figure out what. Anyway I loved * I have my own judgment about my friends on my lot* PS: Please don't judge me hard for my bad English...

Your English is easy to understand. When I read your posts and responds, I don't think about your English at all....all I see is my friend talking to me...and that is making me feel good.. Yes, some of us are "drama queens", some are calm, depends on personality....

I try to stay calm- I do my best to stay calm- If it is regarding my daughter- I tend to panic. I think it just works out that way. I am at work and haven't seen my star rating yet today- Maybe it dropped- I'm still going to be the same "me"- I've dropped before- I agree- my friends will still be my friends- I don't pay much attention to the rating- I will not skip over discussions with users with low ratings- That just means that someone didn't like something they said- and marked them negatively! No big deal- Count to 10- take a deep breath and move on- See how calm I am!

Gee, if I let a little thing like myLot make me panic, how would I face real life issues. MyLot is a bit of fun and relaxation for me, no big deal. There are many on here who air their personal problems and frustrations, and I would guess they would be the panicers.

I'm going to have to say that I stay calm. I have to, because if I don't, who is going to? And the star dropping thing, I don't even know what is going on with that, and in all honesty, if I stopped to worry about little things like that, I'd always be worried about little things like that. My life is so full of so much stuff that stopping to sweat the insignificant things, like what is my rating on mylot, would just take up way too much energy and time that I can spend on bigger and better things.

I have to say I think that I up to a piont stay calm, I tend to act like its not really happening and just go through the motions. I think I use denial when in a scary situation, it is only later when things are okay again that I look back and think sh*t! I seem to panic more later then when it is actually happening. Little things like what colour star I have isn't something I really worry about, I have learnt to just be me and if people dont like me for me then that is their choice. I no longer change for people and just do what is expected even if I disagree, I am who I am and no star or anyone elses opinion can change that. Everyone has the right to their own opinion and I stand by people's choices even if I dont agree I respect.

Pola, hats off to you. You caught the issue rightly. You are absolutely right there was no cause for panic...on reduction of star rating. I agree with you...why do we become so conscious and jittery due to change in rating? We should not have been overreacted in this manner (I was the one who was also shocked and disappointed to see reduction in my rating). Now I have cooled down. Of course our judgement about our dear friends is not based on the 'star rating'. We have our own parametres to know how nice our friends are. Yes, you are point is correct...those of us who were reacting in panic....perhaps also get disturbed in real life also, in case of some calamity or emergency. We should gather our wits and stay calm to tackle any eventuality.

Well it wasn't so much a panic I felt when I saw the ratings drop with me...cause when I began scanning around I realized all of us had been demoted! LOL As far as REAL issues...like the events that have been going on in my life lately and you know what I'm talking about...maybe for one fraction of a second I'll panic...well, not exactly panic but...for some reason I seem to do well in very stressful circumstances...I've never been like my mom who passed away last summer, as she was the type that would just hide her head in the sand when adversity of any kind came along...by doing that it was her way of coping and maybe she thought by having that attitude the problem or event would melt and go away on its own...Well life doesn't work like that...problems don't go away by ignoring them---so yes, there might be a few seconds panic with me, but that gets me pumped up to take action--its the fighter instinct in me to come out ahead and solve the problem...When my mother and I were going through an eviction issue last year, that could have been a major time for me to panic...but you know what...all my friends were amazed at me...they'd ask ...how can you be so calm? Well I realized getting into a level 10 panic mode wouldn't be the answer...cause maybe that was my mom's way of dealing with panicky episodes..it imobalized her to a standstill which didn't accomplish anything--being calm in any stressful situation is the only way to cope with it--and the thoughts definitely are clearer on how to act upon the incident--

As they say the only constant in life is change, thus for mehaving changes in my life is just normal its part of life.We have to be suceptile of change because from time to time and as we go along we always encounter changes inlife it maybe in work or anywhere else, its the matter of how you react to it.and how you handle such change.for me i dont get panic nor alarm on the changes in life it may be expected or unexpected the important thing is you know how to respond to it.You dont have to complicate life because life as it is is much complicated so no need to complicate things all you have to do is get ready and be ready of whatever will come to your life it maybe favorable for you or not.embrace the changes and soon you will get used to it.
