Other Parents Like Me More

I think it's strange. Whenever I meet my friends parents, they always seem to like me more then my own parents do. Maybe it's because they don't really know me that well, or maybe they're trying to be nice, but I notice that my parents do the same thing with my friends. Have you experienced something like that or am I just imagining it?

My theory is that parents are, by nature, rather self centred. They think if their kids disagree with them, or go against THEIR dreams, it is a negative reflection on them, so they push US further, appreciating other people's kids, because those kids are not a reflection on them, rather on the other parents. Grandparents and grandchildren are natural allies, for the same reason. Grandparents have raised THEIR children, and now when a new band of little ones come along, they have people they can SPOIL!!!!

you are wrong there, dearie. your parents love you so much. you have only taken their love for granted because, that comes your way easily every minute of the day. when your friends come and visit you, they take care of them out of their love and respect for you. your parents do not want you to be shamed by acting wrongly whenever your friends come over to the house to pay you visits. just think, what will those friends of yours say at your back if your parents will not take care of them properly when the drop by at your house? you are right there, they will talk ill of you. i hope that you get the whole picture now.

Keleidescope, your parents love you unconditionly. But they get to see you when you feel at your worst. Your friend's parents get to only see you at your best. I remember that it was easy to always to be extra pleasant to my kids friends because I didn't have to keep after them to do their chores.
