Do any of you have a diet or weight program you use that is healthy and helps lose weight? I am not interested in pills or anything like that but if there is something you do that is good please let me know. I have lost over 20 pounds in the last 4 months or there abouts just by reducing my food intake and some exercise so I was wondering if someone else had a goood experience with weight loss that doesn't starve you to death.

I don't know why this post reminded me of this site, but someone on MyLot told me about www.sparkpeople.com. It helps you do it yourself, in almost every way.

I exercise 6 days a week alternating with cardio and strength traning. I do sit ups and standing ab work everyday. I try to eat all through out the day. My problme has been not eating. I forget to eat which does not helpe with weightloss. I have always eaten really ehalthy so I just buy healthy snacks and try to have three small meals and at least one snack. Plus lots of water.

Thank You I was exercising daily and I have started to eat better. My problem is that health issues has prevented me from exercising very much. I have that issue with not eating as well I have a hard time remembering to eat supper even if I had a small lunch and no snacks. My husband has a tendency to buy chips for himself and thinking of me he will buy some for me as well. I finally had to tell him not to get the ones he won't eat. Which was another problem. Anyway thanks again.

I lost 37 pounds in two months by keeping a check on what I eat.I also walk 2 milles a day and I used to sleep a lot so I reduced my sleep time as well. But I never compromise on good nutrition.I also take vitamin suppliments to make sure that I have a strong immunity. Hope this helps.Good luck.

Wow very impressive! About 4 months ago I was motivated to make changes in my life for the better so I started to walk, started at 2 miles a day, got up to 3.5 miles a day and reduced my intake which really helped but on the 10th I had a heart attack and when I talked to the dietician in the hospital I realized that some of the changes I made was not as good as I had thought so now I have made more. I also have had to stop my walks because I just can't handle them anymore at least for now. I am concerned that I will gain some of the weight back because of the lack of exercise now. Thanks for the comment.

It might cost a little more, but overwhelmingly, the program I have heard most people say was a success for them, is Weight Watchers. It worked for my mom, several friends, even my next door neighbor and her daughter.

I lost 60 lbs years ago and have never gained it back....well I keep within ten pounds. You are doing the right thing. I actually quite dieting and lost the weight. Everytime I thought of the word diet..I was hungry! They say that your stomach is the size of your fist and if you don't eat any more portion wise at each setting you'll lose weight. A coworker of mine has a sister who has lost lots doing that. She eats every two hours (sounds like what a premmie does) but it must work. Generally just eating healthy will do it. There is really no magic tricks that will shed the pounds unless you just use portion control and exercise.

I do not really follow any specific diet. I try to eat as healthy as I can. Breakfast I usely eat outmeal, grits, waffles with no butter and very little syrup (tried to stay away from the grease and this goes for any meal) for lunch I will do soup & salad or a sandwich something kind of small. For dinner I usely eat a medium size meal and this will be pretty much what ever I wantbut again try to stay away from fried food and greazy foods. And I never eat or drink anything but water passed 8pm. I also do the exercise ball workouts. (any kind I can get my hands on) and I also try to walk for at least an hour 3 times a week. This is what works for me. i just had a baby 3mo ago and I have lost all of my baby weight plus 10 extra pounds. Oh and try not to eat a lot of bread and if you do eat wheat bread its so much better for you. Good Luck!!

Thank you for the info. Yes I found out that wheat bread was better for you than even the rye bread I had switched to. I guess I am on the right track it would seem anyway. Because of my heart attack I have to stay away from the greasy foods not anyway and I normally drink water, giving up coffee the 4 months ago. Thanks again

I started doing Weight Watchers at the end of August last year and by Feburary I had lost 51 pounds. I did not attend meetings but I did find a great support group here on the web at Ivillage. It is there that I found out the point system to use and ideas to help me. Best part is I didn't have to spend any money and I could eat anything I wanted to as long as I stuck to my points. I also started using the Gazelle. I love this machine and there is no impact to kill my knees. I fell off the diet when my grandmother passed away o now I am starting agin. In the last 3 months I have only gained back 10 pounds but tat is because I ate my comfort food way too much... chocolate!

I still insist you to take up some sport or the other. It will naturally reduce your weight. There are so many people at our club who want to reduce weight. You don't even need to sacrifice your daily intake. When you play any physically active game the calories or the fats get burned up and do not get accumilated which would otherwise lead to over-weight problems.

I am more interested in weight lifting than anything but I have no place around here to go for this. Closest place is an hour away and I don't have the time or the money to drive there on a regular basis. Other than that I walk but now I cannot walk too far anymore because of my heart attack. At least not until the doctor says I can start again. I also will be working driving a tractor for 16 hours a day so not much time for sports of any sort.
