How to feel like a person when you're jobless?

Most of us don't even realize how much we are defined by our job until we lose it, that is " we live in a culture that is driven by What do you do and What do you make?" Plus there are real emotional perks that go with the job. Aside from the companionship, you have the gratification of completing assigned tasks and the validation of getting paid for them.

I was recently laid off, so I definitely know what you are talking about. Most of all, I miss seeing people that had become my friends on a daily basis. It's harder to keep in touch since our lives don't intersect each day. It's not easy finding another job in the current market. I'm trying to stay positive, though, and make the best of the situation while looking for a new employer.
