Hooters anyone?

Okay, so I heard something on the radio that really got me thinking. One DJ stated that he did not tip overweight hooter's waitresses, simply because he did not find them attractive. Callers dialed in to curse him, and I was angry too. What a horrible thing to say. Who tips based on looks?
Then I started thinking... it's Hooter's. Like it or not, Hooter's is a shallow industry. Yes, the servers work their butts off, but they are hired based on an image. When you accept a job at Hooter's, you are basically stating that it is okay for people to judge you based on your looks. Right?
What do you think?

It is a shame that these women think so little of themselves and would take a demeaning job.
Although they will tell you that the money is great and they are fine with it, deep down I believe they have low self esteem.
They have a kind of false bravado. They are always quick to tell you that they are able to pay their way through school with the money. This is a desparate attempt to let you know they are intelligent. Something they would not feel the need to do if they were truly ok with what they were doing; And not showing off their a$$ cheeks in short shorts.
I think kind people will recognize this and not exploit and further demean these women. Their job is not about being in a restaurant known for great food or service. It is all about one thing only.
The radio host has his own issues. I think a lot of not so "classically" attractive women seek these positions because they are desperately seeking the attention from men to make them feel attractive. In some cases, for them, the wrong kind of attention is better than none at all.
Women who are confident and intelligent do not need this kind of attention. It is a shame that this radio host is one of the members of our culture that exploits and abuses these women.

If the food is hot and like it was ordered, and the table isn't waiting for drinks, I don't care if Cousin ITT is the friggin server at Dollhouse, the server should be tipped appropriately. If the pig wants to give a prettier server extra, that's his business.
Servers are lucky to make more than 2.13 per hour from the establishment where they are employed. If people expect good service with a smile, they should at least leave a couple bucks if not the appropriate 12% for lunch hours and 20% for dinner hours.
Not tipping when the service was good is just rude.

I definitely agree 100%. I was a sever for two years. I always tip 20%, and sometimes more, if the service is really good. Except, this is hooters. They work just as hard, and usually longer hours (my sister works there.) However, I know, from my sister it is not uncommon for someone to leave a $20 tip off of a $20 tab. That's 100% tip. Now, I don't believe the service was THAT good. People are tipping based on what the server looks like. If it happens to work against them, as it would in the DJ's case, that's just something they have to deal with.
