do you feel awkward when it comes to family gatherings?

With my own family, I feel very relaxed, but when I use to have to go to the inlaws, I really use to feel like the odd man out. I remember one christmas, the father in law went around giving everyone else a drink, then sat down, while I was standing there waiting for mine! This is only one of many incidents I could tell you, but I don't want to bore you.

yes... i feel awkward during family gatherings.. i'm not that open to my family co'z they set high expectations on me... i'm more open to my friends :D

We don't usually do that because we don't have enough budget but what we do is just visit our relatives. Maybe in the near future when i will have more money i can host a family gatherings so that i will know my other relatives.

You are not alone. Anytime my family gathers I have to spend some time alone, just to get away from them for a little while. I have even been known to make excuses to leave for a few minutes. Out of ice? I'll get it. Forgot the rolls? Let me pick some up. It is not that I don't love my family, it's just that sometimes they drive me crazy!

My family or in-law side are easy to get along. Regardless which gathering either my family or in-law side. I am very happy that we can get together and talk like no body business. Especially if all sit in a huge round table for about 18 peoples, we talk till we have to raise our as if we are in school to get the permission to talk first. Funny, isn't it. That's my family, everyone love gatherings as it is the time to get together and share our love for each other.
