Your star ratings.

I've not been online much these past weeks. And the very little time i had, i squeezed in myLot into my schedule.
Thus, i've not been replying to many and also i've not been replying daily. When there is not much of an interaction with the rest of the users, i'm really confused as to how my star ratings actually dropped from 10 to 8 in about 2 weeks.
I did realise however, that inactivity does not seem to affect my friends ratings. But i do wonder if myLot users are just rating other users negatively just for the sake of rating them.
Do you rate your friends all the time? Do you rate strangers? Do you rate consistently? What are the reasons when you do rate somebody negatively? Do you rate other users just for the sake of rating them? Do you rate them because they are your friends? Do you rate them for the sake of rating?

I rate all the discussions I post to. I do this to help me keep track of what discussions I have posted on. I do not want to post twice to the same discussion. I have never given anyone a negative. That is just me. If there is a discussion that I do not agree with but I post to it I still give them a plus. If the discussion is very distastful I just don't post to it or rate it. My star points have gone up and down sinse I joined the site. Some people give you a negative mark when you disagree with what they say, so I just don't worry about the stars. Stars will come and stars will go but we will keep posting just the same.

About those people who give us ngative ratings just because we do not agree with their opinion, what's with that? I'm sure mylotters are people from varied backgrounds.
I personally think that different views only goes to show different perspectives. That is difinitely good in my books! - Lyn
p/s: the illusion only works with a big picture.

Dont; worry it was just a glitch - I can see your star is back to a 10 ...
anyways welcome back and we missed you
hope you will find som etime to squeeze myot a little more ;-)
As for rating, I mostly rate my friends - 75% of my rating I would say - with a plus unless it's a one liner or unrelated to the topic
i also rate "strangers" when I think they gave a good answer
I usually only rate negatively in the event someone is irrespectful, cursing or any sort of inappropriate behavior

Thank you for the warm welcome. It's been very tight lately. My schedule is crazy. I'll be going away for a 10 day holiday and i'm going straight to work when i come back. No holidays for me even though school starts end of June.
Thank you again for your reply to my post. I missed you guys too. It's been quite awhile. God bless! - Lyn

If I read a discussion, I rate it, whether I answer it or not. I think when you are not active then no one gets a chance to rate new material from you and give you +. I find myself wondering if the ratings are like a running total, and that is why a rating will drop. I rate + almost all of the time. I give a - rating if someone displays a negative and disparaging attitude toward a discussion. If you do not like the discussion, go to one you do like. I do not rate discussions -, I just pass them by if they are not interesting to me. I will report abuse, and I have seen discussions posted in foreign language, or just punctuation, etc. I report those discussions as abuse. Hope that answers some of your questions. I know everyone rates things differently.

Thank you for your reply. I also realised that other mylotters got their ratings down. I wonder if it was a glitch or a hacker? Is it possible to trace the hackers if indeed they are the culprits? Or do you think Mylot has the website covered? - Lyn
