Drain cleaning

I just cleaned the drain in my shower... Probably the worst / most nasty thing ever. Something I never want to go again. How to you clean your drain? There must be an easier way.

I ususally clean the drain wearing rubber gloves.I can stand it as long as the nasty thing would not touch my skin ...

Hi, I don't really clean it, I just get out the plunger and pluncge away. It seems to do the trick just fine. cheers,
