I am an amateur photographer just starting to get serious about photography and I hope that I can make a living out of it one day. I take pictures on almost a daily basis and this photo is probably one of my favorites. It is of a tree that had fallen in my backyard. I applied what is called "The Orton Effect."

No one in my area really appreciates it either, they appreciate corn crops. lol Unless, that is, you drive 2 hours north. Where was my point? Oh yes, the internet. If you are looking for the most wonderful ever experience sharing your love of photography with others, Flickr.com is the uber community for lovers of photographic imagery. I stumbled upon it a little over a year ago and I spend at least an hour getting lost in it's community each and every day. I was surprised to find how supportive and friendly (and helpful) everyone is. I've established relationships with people from all over the world. It's an internet world in which most understand, it's not the camera you're shooting with, it is simply the imagery. Go check it out!
