Which dog breeds do you own? And what kinds of things do you seek after when choosing a new dog? I have a Golden Retriever and a Lab/German Shepherd mix, I would like to get a small dog that does not shed or sheds very little. My other 2 dogs shed like crazy so I dont need anymore dog hair! I am looking into a Shih tzu or Chinese Crested.

We just have one dog right now. She a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. When I was growing up we had Airedale Terriers and my husband had Labs so I think we both have a tendency to like big, friendly dogs. As far as shedding goes, Chessies, Labs and Airedales all shed some but they're not too bad. In fact, it's pretty much seasonal with Chessies (Spring and Fall). Our Airedales were always outside dogs so we never noticed the shedding much, but our Chessie is mostly inside so we really notice it when it happens. I guess inside or outside is also a consideration in choosing a breed. Anyway, good luck in choosing a breed!

I own 3 purebred Shih-tzus (Champion Bloodline) and I love all of them. They're sweet, cuddly, friendly and well-behaved. On the other hand, they shed their fur very often so we always have to brush them or bring them to the vet for grooming. Though taking care of Shih-tzus may be more than taking care of babies, you'll love their company. I love their look when you are able to ponytail their hair! They look so uber-cute! ^_^ Their bodies can grow long as as much as 1 ft but their ht. is about 6-8 inches though princess-types can be a lot smaller than that.

I don't have dogs anymore but when I did have them I choose the small dogs because I always had an apartment. My last dogs were a pekenese and before that it was a yorkie.

I have a Doberman and an Australian Kelpie at the moment. I have owned Dobermans all my life though, they are loyal, affectionate and protective. they have the short coats and dont shed much.

We have a boxer and a blue tick coondog. Our boxer is a medium size and she sheds but very little. And the hound is huge. But my aunt has had a shih tzu and she loves it but you have to take them to the groomers to keep them looking nice. My grandma used to have a mini-poodle ot toy-poodle not sure which but it was the one that really didnt look alot like the big ones and it was a great dog, they do not shed they have human type hair so they are as close as a hyperallergentic dog you can get that dont cost a fortune. I wish you luck in your desision.
