What gets you into trouble most of the time?

What I'm referring to here are qualities people have that inadvertently offends another without really pushing it. It could be a look, lack of tact, or an action. When I was in high school, my elementary teacher told me that I had this "stare" which makes other people (including her) think that I'm looking at them in a bad way and gives the impression that I am a snob. I'm not aware of it and didn't realize it until she told me about it. She admitted that she got offended back then and realized that I'm actually friendly and warm if only people will get to know me better. How about you? What gets you into trouble most of the time? Do share your experiences. :)

I have the tendency to knit my eyebrows when I try to understand something and when I am talking to some people and do that, they would feel a bit defensive because it seems that I am being critical or judgmental which I am not really. I just do that kind of thing when I am thinking and I makes a lot of people uneasy and it even appeared once in my evaluation in my 360 degrees feedback. Some of my subordinates really do feel intimidated when I do that thing with my eyebrows.

I've met people like you who acts exactly the same. Sometimes, if I don't really know the person, I can't help but feel like I said something offensive or irritating. Oh well, people presume too much most of the time, don't you think? Thanks for sharing! :)

We can't please everybody and I think we don't have to. It's really their problem not ours lol! Anyways, I don't really mind what others think of me as long as I know, and those close to me know what I really am inside. I think that's what matters the most. :)

I was really flabbergasted when read such comments in my evaluation papers. It seems that it's my fault that they don't feel comfortable talking to me just because I knit my eyebrows. I am not even aware that I am doing it and its really nothing. I do agree with you that people make presumptions and are mostly influenced by their own prejudices.

I dont really get into much trouble but I have been in some small trouble because of my 'honest but tactless' mouth. I also had some problems by telling sensitive things to wrong people who I thought were loyal to me but would eventually betray me. Nevertheless, I have solved almost all of my issues.

Honesty sometimes can really get us into trouble. Some would rather hear a lie than face a painful truth. Maybe it's just a matter of saying it nicely or sugar coating it that will make it sound acceptable. But it's one tough act to practice, I must say. Thanks for sharing! :)

LOL good question, I don't think I really ever get into trouble!? :-) I'm quite easy going, so I avoid most conflicts easyly.

People thought I'm srict and hard to please. But when they get to know me they would openly speak and tell me that they are mistaken. My outer look is defferent from my inner self.

We often get misunderstood because people are quick to judge about what they see on the outside. Impressions are important, but it doesn't alwasy follow that what you see is what you get. Thanks! :)
