you have to make time for your violin... so you'll have what to say to your children or to learn them how to play the violin..;)

I started violin lessons last September, so I'm not a concert master yet. I'm finally getting the bowing right, but I am having trouble anticipating the next move necessary to play the next note the way it is supposed to be played. My left hand is very uncomfortable, and my teacher just suggested that maybe I need to go to a 3/4 size.
I originally wanted to play organ when my mother asked me what music instrument I want to learn, but there was no room in the house (this was back in the early 60s, when there were no portable organs around) So my sister suggested accordion, since it is like half an organ. I agreed, and that was the instrument I had to learn music theory.
I gradually lost interest by adolescence, taking up guitar and recorder in its place, but by early adulthood I lost all interest, though once in a while I played recorder once in a while.
Why I took up violin just before my 49th birthday? I saw one in a store for $100. I had a passing curiosity with them, and here was a chance to get intimate with one. I knew it was going to be a challenge to learn, but I went ahead and went for it.

I played the piano and the clarinett as a child. I was not too bad at the piano. But then I quit for some reason I do not even remember. I regret it today. I wish I still could play an instrument. I hope you will reconsider - at least not quit all together. Playing an instrument brings a lot of joy, ewven if one does not play at a professional level

I play piano and keyboards since 2003.
I enjoy Heavy Metal, Prog Rock, and other alternative kind of styles :)
