What do u think how much a person's looks matters for becoming sucessful ?

i belive that looks definately matters for a person to be sucessful. even i have faced consequences of it. i went for an job interview in which a candidate with better looks was preferred over me even when i gave better answers in group discussion. it was the looks that took away the job which i desirved. what do unthink about it and have u gone through such exprience.
